I told my job that I plan to retire no later than September. It's a decision that I hoped I wouldn't have to make but enough is enough. 3 trips to the ER from the job in the last 10 months is just too much. If I stayed I would be tempting fate. too much stress...too many triggers.
Having made the decision I'm somewhat relieved. No more beating myself up trying to fight the inevitable. It's comforting in an odd way.
Due to my wife's excellent financial skills, we are comfortable. Our house is paid for
and we have no debt to speak of . Also with the county's new PLOP program to help supplement my pension until social security kicks in, I would be foolish to stay any longer where I'm at risk.
Now I'll start looking into something to occupy my time.

I\'m so happy you made your decision. I know you\'ve been wrestling with it. The job is obviously toxic for you. Now it\'s ust hold on until July.
