Blast, blast and double blast. Another trip to the ER. I'm going to have to ask for most favored patient status.
Maybe I'll get my own parking space out front or receive a free stethoscope or something. (Free stethoscope? Not bad. then I can play "doctor" myself!)
What happened was that a psychotic inmate became extremely combative and I had to pepper spray him...bad idea.(For me, not him) Shortly after the inmate was restrained I began to have an attack due to the spray and it kept getting worse even after using my inhaler. At that point I thought it was time to see my old friends at the ER.
After three breathing treatments, a steroid shot, xrays and blood gas testing I began to feel much better. the doctor thought I was stable (little does he know) and I was able to finangle an early release.(It was a close call!
Phew!)
Now I'm supposed to stay inside and chill out.
HA! try chilling out on steroids. It's not easy. I'm also on a prednisone taper for the next 10 days. It should be an interesting ride.
Who needs sleep anyway?
I'm also supposed to follow up with my doctor in the next few days....Hmmm, I see him a lot too. Maybe he'll give me the free parking space...or the stethoscope!.. Nah..not the stethoscope. He couldn't stand the competition.
Not to worry, I'm feeling much better.you can't keep a good man down.

Next time you\'ll know not to inhale when subduing an inmate. Just stop breathing altogether and your asthma (and everything else) won\'t be a problem. You might try wearing a bubble to work. I\'m sorry you had another attack, this one sounds awfully serious. If you\'re going to spend all your time in the ER they should definitely give you your own stethescope, or maybe one of those long white coats.
Now why didn\'t I think of that? Brilliant!
