Another bright sunny day. How great is that? yesterday my wife and I went for a drive and wound up at a park at the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. It was called ,interestingly enough, "Confluence Park". (talk about truth in advertising)
the park is off the beaten path but is well maintained by the state. there are a few exhibits, a parking area, an outhouse and a walking trail. Very basic. It allows the bird sanctuary, marshlands and ,of course, the rivers to be the stars .
the trail to the confluence of the rivers was about a quarter of a mile long. they had strategically placed benches about every 100 yards or so.
this was good planning on their part because quarter miles seem to have gotten longer than I remember.
the confluence itself was very impressive. two great, wide , bodies of water joining up on their journey to the gulf.
I have lived in this area all my life and have never been there. It's odd but you figure it's not going anywhere and there's always something else to do. I also have yet to ride to the top of the Arch in St.Louis. I have to take care of that soon. I'm glad I finally made it to the confluence anyway.
During the summer my wife and I frequently go on little jaunts on the weekend. It's my time of year.
As Sly and the Family Stone said a few years back, I'm planning on having "hot fun in the summer sun".

I would love to see that confluence. It must be incredibly awesome. I\'ve seen the Mississippi and the Tennessee Rivers and I was very much impressed, especially the Mississippi. The Colorado isn\'t all that impressive because so much of it is taken out. By the time it gets to Yuma it\'s mostly a marsh. You\'re lucky there are so many things to see in driving distance. Maybe you can develop a nice tan so you can wear body shirts and impress the ladies and your wife can get jealous.
