OK, time for an update. I have managed to stay off the prednisone - I finished it on Feb 28 then March 7 had bleeding in the morning. At that point I thought 'here we go again' but surprisingly that was it - no more bleeding.
For the past few days I've felt dog tired, can hardly lift my head up off the pillow to get up for work each day. This morning I saw tiny amounts of blood and some mucus so I am hoping this will not get worse and I can actually try to rest up and be extra careful about what I eat. I don't understand it, I just can't seem to get to the point where things are quiet and have healed. I have the feeling I'm always on the edge of a flare up.
I'm still taking a fairly high dose of Asacol 9 x 400mg per day. No other meds. I'm taking fish oil daily, iron, aloe vera, N-Acetyl glucosamine and vitamins.
Ah well, we'll see how things go. Work has been fairly busy recently but I don't see that changing - although I don't feel too stressed about it.
We've had some nice days here in NJ so I'm really looking forward to the warmer weather.
