Hope someone else out there has teens and can offer some support/advice.  He's 14 years old and I don't know if I can survive another round of teenagers.  I really do not like those middle school years.  I was just diagnosed with thyroid problems and started meds 4 days ago.  Guess that explains why I've been so exhausted and have no energy.  Yesterday was my dad's 82nd birthday.  I worked from 7:00 to 5:00, came home, and hosted a birthday/dinner party for 9 people to celebrate dad's birthday - lasagna, salad, garlic toast, cake & ice cream (all home made).  Worked today from 7:00 to 4:00, came home, and was glad to get through the day - I was SO TIRED!  The second I walked in the door, Tyler wanted me to drive him to a friend's house.  I just was too tired - could not bring myself to get back into the car and drive another 45 minutes (round trip time).  DH would be home in abour half an hour.  He's retired since May, but is out job hunting because we need the money - raising a teen on a pension is not going to work.  So, I told Tyler to wait until his grandfather got home and he started in complaining, complaining, whining, etc. about it.  I finally sent him to his room and told him he is grounded. I'm probably just letting everything bother me more because of the thyroid, plus my mother died a few months ago.  She had a degenerative disease and my father took care of her at home with my help.  He's going downhill a lot lately and I'm helping him out.  Plus, my brother's wife forgot about the 'in sickness and in health' part of their marriage vows and threw him out when his condition worsened and he needed more care (he has the same hereditary disease that killed my mother).  He's living with my father and I'm trying to help him get some needed services and a place to live that he can afford on his small disability check.  So, I suppose that the teen thing is bothering me more than it should and maybe I'm just not handling it well.  If anyone has any advice, please let me know.

wow, time for mom/grandma/daughter/sister to slow down a little, If it were me I would tell the teen his friend that lives so far would be a weekend visit, during the week when you are working he needs to visit the kids closer to him, or during the week have the kid that lives so far come to your house, let him know he needs to conpermise on the running, teens have a habit of making plans then letting you know what they are going to do, instead of seeing if you have the time to do what they would like to do, like you have to take me I already told him I would be there, they dont understand life is not all about them, thats just teenagers, I have been through 7 of them and now raising a 12 year old grandson. I understand where you are comming from, Boundries, is the best andswer that and compromise, Good Luck and God bless you
