Rambling
I consider myself lucky to have our son, he keeps me going, and busy. He just turned 11, and has his mothers "gift of the gab". Without him I probably would have just retreated until I wasted away. I sort of knew the basics of what to expect, after my wife passed, although it's not the same as losing your child, I seem to relate the two.
My parents came down when she passed, and stayed for 2 weeks. My mother said she was going to stay for a few more months, I told her no, they had helped enough, and that I had to learn to do things on my own. I was not a very good cook at the time, better now, but not as good as my wife. Her parents didn't even come down for her funeral.
I tried to hide a lot of my grief from my son, I didn't want him to think his life was over. I know this will affect him for the rest of his life, but I want him to go on with his, and to be happy. I also hid a lot of it from my co-workers, now they treat like they would anyone else, and sometimes this hurts. Maybe it's my fault, acting like everything's fine when it's not.
