2026 Kindergarten Oakleigh

Service providers may only claim funding for each enrolled, eligible child. At C&K Oakleigh Community Kindergarten, your child will feel safe, make friends and belong. We have an open natural learning environment where the children explore, investigate, and extend their learning. This is what most people picture when they hear “kinder” — a dedicated kinder building where children attend for a set number of hours, usually 15 hours per week for 4-year-olds, across a few sessions. There is no care before or after the session, and it is not typically available for babies or toddlers.
In Victoria, teachers must meet regulatory standards, but centres with staff 4 year old kinder oakleigh who engage in ongoing professional development are often more responsive to modern educational practices. A tour is the best way to know if a centre is right for your family, and it's nothing like a sales pitch. You'll spend 20 to 30 minutes walking through the rooms, watching how educators interact with children, and getting a feel for the environment. Our daily rates are all inclusive and have no additional charges for incursions / excursions or any of our learning programs. The rates shown are an estimate based on using Childcare Subsidy (CCS) subsidised hours.

For example, kindergarten programs are offered in centre-based settings that include both long day care services and stand-alone sessional kindergartens. Our stand-alone kindergartens offer an approved Queensland Government Kindergarten Program run by a university-qualified early childhood teacher. At our sessional kindergartens, children complete a five-day fortnight, during school hours and school terms. If these hours aren’t quite right for you, all of our long day care centres also offer an approved kindergarten program, with extra care hours available before and after. The new funding will benefit families with children who attend a 600-hour annual approved kindergarten program – either through a long day care service or a sessional kindergarten.
Sometimes the children take these stories into the playground as a prompt for their own dramatic play. We also create environments for the children to enjoy books by themselves, or in smaller groups. In this way children have the opportunity to engage with books and reading in the way that reflects their own development and individuality. At the end of the calendar year, any remaining fee offset may be used to improve the funded kindergarten program, such as improving quality and engaging families in kindergarten for the following calendar year. Free Kinder funding is paid on top of other kindergarten funding streams available to long day care services.
Some age groups — particularly the under-2s room and popular days — fill 6 to 12 months ahead. For 3-year-old and 4-year-old kinder programs, enquiring at least 6–12 months before your child’s intended start date gives you the best chance of securing your preferred days. Children enjoy playgrounds or nature spaces where they can climb, run and play cooperative games.

Therefore, at Only About Children we offer continuity of our unique Grow Curriculum stretching from Nursery, through to Toddlers and our Preschool/Kindergarten Program in the final 2 years before formal schooling. The age of preschool/kindergarten is from 3 years to school age – up to 6 years. The decision to transition a child to the next age group should always be conducted in consultation with the family. All long day care services caring for children under school age must employ, or have access to, a qualified early childhood teacher.
Sometimes known as kindergarten, it can be a standalone service or part of another education and care service or school. Long day care services must re-confirm a child’s participation in their funded kindergarten program prior to Annual Confirmation to make sure funding Is paid to the right service. Extended hours in long day care services also support families who require out of home care from early morning to late afternoon or early evening.

Gentle, nurturing care and early developmental support, in a calm space designed to help your littlest one feel secure. Play based learning that grows with your child, from their very first days to their first day of school. Eligible 3 and 4-year-olds also receive a Free Kinder fee offset on top of CCS. Cire Early Learning is part of Cire Services, a not-for-profit community organisation that has been operating in Melbourne’s east and south-east for over 50 years. We run long day care with integrated kindergarten across several locations, including Croydon, Mt Evelyn, Lilydale and Yarra Junction.
At Guardian Oakleigh East, our upstairs kinder spaces give children room to cook alongside our Chef and lose themselves in artwork in a dedicated project room. With weekly excursions and educators who know them well, children build the confidence and curiosity that carry them into school. Our government-funded two-year preschool program prepares children aged 3–5 for school — not just academically, but socially and emotionally.
