Upon fermenting to sugar dryness, the wines were fined & clarified. The oak & tank batches were blended & left in tank to allow integration & equilibrium of the final wine. A fine expression of the classic Riesling grape from the iconic Alsace region on France. Mittnacht Freres have been producing biodynamic wines for quite some time and are well known for their refined wines. They own some parcels in the Grand Crus like “Rosaker” or “Osterberg”.
This Vermentino has gorgeous aromatics and florals and a textural savoury palate with a zesty citrus finish. As is the tradition in Italy – it’s perfectly partnered with sardines. Over the next 20 years the Arnold family almost single-handedly created the Cradle Coast wine region. Every vineyard hand-built, hand-planted to the exact specifications – no compromise, no concession.
This wine is oxidatively handled and fermented in a blend of stainless steel and fifteen-year-old French oak barriques for 12 months. This slightly off-dry style has savoury qualities that show that Riesling can indeed come in many different shapes and sizes. A luscious, refreshing Pinot Gris with white pepper, fresh green herbs and ripe mango bound in a lassoo of acidity. This wine is all about mouthfeel – it’s got depth, viscocity, and richness while staying deliciously clean and deceptively moreish. "A flavourful chardonnay with citrus and stone fruits cradled harmoniously by a structure of nutty oak." - Ben Riggs, Winemaker. The fruit was sourced from a single Adelaide Hills vineyard.
The palate’s fine, with good flow through to the long finish. Byrne thought it, “Super-bright, with white flowers and light mineral. Lightly funked, with nice texture and tons of power.” It’s good to see that one of the great Tasmanian pioneers is back on song with this wine. Partial malolactic fermentation and 10 months of lees stirring are an integral part of crafting this wine. Delamere Estate Chardonnay 2019 Opens with pristine citrus, floral and stone fruit notes, this wine evolves with delicate shades of vanilla, almond and crème brûlée. This is a leaner style Chardonnay, reflecting its Tasmanian provenance, it has juicy lemon and fine white peach fruit notes and mouth-watering acidity.

Handpicked and whole bunch pressed with a portion directly to barrel and a portion to tank for set settling and racked clean to barrel after 24 hours. All oak consisted of French barriques with approximately one third new, and the remainder one to three years old.
Aromas if citrus zest, tropical lime, white stone-fruit over hints of toast and walnut. White nectarine and fresh grapefruit with subtle oatmeal characters. Balanced and structure palate with juicy lees complexity. Wines are made at Sticks Winery in nearby Yarra Valley by winemaker Travis Bush.
The Estate now spans 27 hectares of high density, hand-tended vineyards, mostly comprised of Pinot Noir , with significant plantings of Chardonnay and Pinot Gris in behind. Riesling, Pinot Meunier and Sauvignon Blanc are also planted. Working with a small group of talented grape growers, exceptional vineyard sites and trying to realise the potential in the wines we make from them.

If it weren’t for the fertile loam-on-clay soils we find in our 7 Northdown vineyards, we probably would have given up on viticulture years ago.
