Holy ****
Minus the weird crap floating in my head (weird anxieties, impatience for things I want that will take a long time to achieve, frustrations and confusion about certain situations, etc.) I am kind of doing pretty well.
I think the vitamin b12 stuff is finally kicking in. Looked at the labs myself and HOLY COW. Soooooo low. When she said it was "critically low" I figured the doc was sort of exaggerating. Um. No. I am taking it orally as well as getting shots every 3 weeks and also taking high doses of vitamin D. The big question in my head, which has me a lot nervous is WHY is my b12 so low. I am not a vegetarian and I eat (relatively) well, so what the heck? Why is there an absorption problem? The doc hasn't brought it up and I figured I'd wait. I get lab tested later this month to see how levels are and if they're better enough (I don't know what that level is, but I'm sure she has a number in mind) I'll go strictly oral for awhile to see if that keeps things good. If it doesn't...
Well. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
It's nice not feeling like sleeping all the time (still tired, still sluggish, but not dead to the world!!) and it's nice not having a cloud of sorrow and grief over my head at all times. I feel hopeful and interested. In the last two months, I crocheted two afghans and a scarf - and I enjoyed it. Heh. I've even found interest in some of the games I used to play. It's nice to feel the sun on my face again. Amazing that such a change can exist.
Still have my appointment with a real PDOC later this month, to evaluate the need for antidepressants or other medications, but I am soso glad I started with the PCP first. I don't think I could have waited until late January to see someone and I don't know that he would have even looked at vitamin deficiencies.

Allora, I am sooooo glad that you are feeling much, much better!! It warms my heart to see that you are feeling and doing better. I am sooo glad that your doctor tested both your B12 and Vitamin D levels and that you are feeling more human again after your doctor is correcting the critically low levels with the shots and oral supplementation. Happy New Year, my friend and I will be in touch soon! Hugs!!
Sounds great. My b levels are low normal. Around 300. Nobody seems too concerned. I haven\'t had my d levels checked but I am curious. If you don\'t absorb by mouth and must have the shots you could have pernicious anemia. My dad has that. Its quite manageable with monthly shots and quarterly levels.
Sounds like your on an upswing. Thats great news!
