Hmmm...

How much salt would one need to effectively kill off a 3X3 foot (roughly) area of plants?  Would it be more effective as salt water or just poured at the base of the plant?
Just asking... for a friend.

Rock salt would be more effective IMO because it would be distributed over time every time it rains.

Is your friend sure of never wanting to grow anything there again? Cuz it could take years to come back.

To kill thistles, we use 1 tsp. at the base of the plant and water in with boiling water. I don\'t know if that helps, but it seems it would take quite a lot of salt for that large an area.

Oh, I\'m sure my \"friend\" wants things to grow there, which is why I carefully want to make sure nothing ever will.

(50lbs of rock salt is only about, what, $7? I think it\'s worth it...)

One of my \"friends\" is trying to do the same thing with a sticky-ball tree. Good luck!
