I was diagnosed with hpv about 8 months ago........ first I had warts and i went to the doctor and found out I had hpv and severe dysplasia. I had a biopsy and the cryo. About 6 months later ( I was a little late for my 4 month visit) I had a pap smear and it came back as mild dysplasia. I still have sex with my boyfriend because from what I have researched you cant be reinfected with the same strain of hpv and you shouldn't stop your sexual habits ( if your in a monogamous relationship) because they most likely already have it. But what I want to know is will having unprotected sex with the same person who has the same strain as me make the dysplasia worse??

You need to tell your boyfriend...the warts will most likely show up on him too...Then he could pass it on to someone else...That isnt your choice to make..please talk to the guys on this website and see how they are dealing with it...100% of them would want to know they have it so they dont pass it on to other people..and so it can be treated...You can not be reinfected with the same strain of Hpv if you already have it..but if it clears your body you can get it again...not to mention there are over 30 different strains...it will not make your dysplasia worse but know that not telling him is a huge mistake...I hope you find the strength to talk to him about it...he really needs to be aware for his own personal health
