2 weeks into regular workout. Feeling better...thinking of other goals
For years I've known that consistent workout is one of the absolute best coping skills for bipolar. But it's been sooooooooooo hard to get on a consistent routine.
I got the Wii game EA Active. It has a 30 day challenge, and I started that about 2 weeks ago. It has you go 2 days on, 1 day of rest so on my rest days I use the Wii Fit game to do yoga as a low intensity workout and to focus on breathing. Honestly I'm very happy so far. It's not been easy which I know is good. It's an intense enough experience to get a good workout but not so relaxed as to not do anything. I think if I can keep this up I can get in the habit of exercising and liking the results. Not too much weight lost so far, but my arms are starting to tone up a little and my fiance says my legs look skinnier. That I like. I'm weighing myself weekly but not trying to focus on it. Weight is merely a numerical representation of my relationship with gravity. I hope however that this will help me tone up enough and get into enough shape that I like working out. If that happens I can go to the gym regularly and get even better results.
My goals with this are 1) get on a regular routine. 2) tone up and feel like this is a good consistent thing for me. 3) be able to be comfortable getting more intense workouts 4) start running.
Man if I can actually become a runner that would be the biggest fitness goal. I never did it at all, it was always a downfall in PE classes. Nobody in my immediate family is a runner. I make excuses (my feet are funky, nobody does it) but honestly those are just excuses. If I really want to do it I can do it. If I can accept slower results from things that will overcome a major mental barrier and I can go onto accomplish bigger and better. So my ultimate goal: 5K. Not shooting for a marathon or anything (but you never know).
