... no matter how you say it, it sucks.  So long for him to be gone.  How do you get through?  I miss him so much and sad news just keeps happening.  A close friend's mom, Mary, passed away this morning.  Such a nice, funny lady.  I remember her welcoming us teenagers into her home on a Sunday afternoon and serving us roast beef sandwiches with horseradish spread and us enjoying the game (whatever game was on) or playing cards with her and her husband Joe.  She will be missed.  So much loss.  My hearts just keeps hurting and hurting.  Thanksgiving is just next week and Christmas is right around the corner.  I don't feel like I can get through this.  We enjoyed the holidays so much as a couple and a family.  How do we do this?

Hi Dawn. I\'ve been thinking about it as well and have no idea how to get through these holidays. Marti was all about Christmas as much as one could be. There will be a huge hole that won\'t be fillable. I guess just let the chips fall where they want and make the best of everything and a bad situation. My sons will be home for Thanksgiving and we\'ve already decided to try our hands at a turkey and all the sides. I really think that will help take our minds off her.
But when I think of you girls out there, I think if you were the chief cook for Thanksgiving to begin with, it has to be much harder. Wishing you peace and although it seems as if we don\'t have much to be thankful for this year, at least we will have our many and wonderful memories. Marti will never be too far from my thoughts. Peace. Kip.

I beleieve the main reason to go through with the holiday...cook that turkey...put up that tree and light up your house...you got to have faith and believe that they are in a better place looking over our lives...just think how sad they would be if there was no turkey and a cold bare house at Christmas. I know how difficult it is but it is important to continue living and to do it for ourselves and our children and grandchildren too. They are young and they need to see a family still bonded together even when such an important member is gone. My first Christmas and Thanksgiving was tough but for the sake of my 3 young chldren I forced myself to keep it going just as we did when Jay was alive....I know that is what he would have wanted and the kids needed too. You can do it Dawn and you will be surronded around that beautiful family of yours....you are not alone..your children adore you and I always think of those widowers and widows who are not as fortunate as us and sit alone in life wondering what is there pupose. Our children can\'t take the place of our husbands but they can give us a reason to get out of bed and to keep the title of \" A Family\"...Love ya Dawn
