2/2/22

Was taken by ambulance to the hospital Monday night with severe pain in left back flank and lower stomach. After receiving results of my blood test, it was determined that I had a severe kidney infection and stone blocking that kidney's ureter. Emergency "surgery" was needed. Before i knew any of this..the anesthesiologist came in and introduced herself. She started talking her anesthesia talk..I'm like wth? I hadn't even talked to a doctor. I told her to go back and start over. I need the doc first. I didn't know I was about to go septic and it was really kind of a big deal. Doc came, assured me stone needed to come out, it was in the upper uretur tube. I asked if I would get a stent. He said possibly, depending on the conditions. The last time I had a kidney surgery (lithotrypsy) I had a stent afterwards. Any one that has been thru this knows they are murder for the next 2 weeks after surgery.  I started paniccing big time but nothing I could do, I was really headed for trouble if I didn't get it done NOW. They rolled me into the operating room and told me to breathe deep. Next thing I remember is waking up in horrible pain from bladder and kidney spasms/pain...Yes i had a stent. I was given IV antibiotics and stayed in the hospital until almost midnight Wednesday night. I am home and thankfully not in near the pain i was in, in the hospital. Now i just have to wait this stent business out. I can feel it inside me when i sit. ughs.  Thank goodness I am getting some of this UTI business solved.  I'm also happy to be home away from the hospital rat race and fighting for myself re: medication, food, etc. They don't make it easy...but i did have some very caring and sweet nurses. Hospitals would be out of business without them.
