1st Week

Well, it's been a rough first week back at work.  I'm physically and mentally tired.  After being off for a month and not doing much and not having any place I had to be, getting back in shape has been a big problem.  Having to walk more than 5-10 feet at a time is tough.  Plus, since no athletic shoes are allowed, I've had to bring out a pair of leather shoes that have been in the closet for a year or more.  I bought them for winter, but breaking them in took too long and was never competed, so they never were very comfortable.  They are just about brand new.  I never realized how heavy they were compared to the shoes I'd been wearing and my legs have gotten very tired. The first thing I'll get when I get paid next week will be a new pair of lighter shoes. Learning a new system is daunting, after a year and a half working with another system.  And that old fear I had at Convergys is coming back,,,the fear of not being able to do the "mechanics" of the system,,,,learning the pages needed and how to get to them.  At Convergys, it made me quit twice before I ever got on the sales floor.  I'll have to convince myself that the new problem is the same problem and I can overcome it again.  That will be a tough sell!  On the good side, the center setup is better than Convergys.  There won't be anymore searching for a work area.  We will have assigned work stations.  There is more room at the stations and the desks can be raised if you want to stand up for a while and lowered when you want to sit down.  That will come in handy when my legs get tired of sitting and a break isn't near.  The break area is well laid out with plenty of cool storage for lunch boxes and freezers for frozen dinners.  And they spoil you.  There's free coffee, tea, and fountain drinks.  And free popcorn!  Not the microwave kind,,,they have a popper like the movie theaters have!  Just fill a bag and take it with you.  Getting to work is faster.  It's only a third as far as Convergys.  It's nice to get home in 15-20 minutes instead of the 30-40 it took and this is in 5 o'clock traffic.  When I get on the later shift, it shouldn't take much more than 10 minutes.  And, that means less gas to pay for.  On the home front, I had enough money for groceries, gasoline, and cigarettes so I'm set for the week.  Sooo, I'm taking the day off today to relax.  There are some good college football games on t.v. and I'm gonna watch as many as I can.
