1st GA MEETING
Finally went to my 1st GA meeting tonite. Met people I can really relate to. Was very nervous and almost didn't get out of the car. Got there a little early and was able to meet a few people prior to the meeting starting. Sat down and chatted with someone who can relate to my Horse Racing Addiction. Made me feel comfortable and we talked. Told him the 1st horse I ever bet on's name and he blurted out who the trainer and driver was. He was right and we laughed, it was almost 30 years ago. Went into the meeting and was welcomed with open arms. was not judged and didn't feel any pressure. Was amazed at the support for one another these people have. Finally introduced myself as a Compulsive Gambler and said it out loud. I know tonight I met new friends that I think will be in my life for a long time. Tonight was a Good Night! Have issues to deal with still, but I now have people that understand me to steer me down the right path. Came home to write this journal and chatted with my DS friend and we laughed on Line.

great job! Keep on the right track. Gambling will not make You happy ever, it will only tear your life apart. Recoverry will make You happy.
Hi there
I know you haven\'t posted sine July, and I\'m only new this week on here, but I really hope you are ok? I read yr journal entries and really feel for you. sounds like the best thing you did so far was go to a GA meeting where you finally felt understood and cared for instead of judged and having to be fearful of peoples reactions. I\'m sure your friends and family do care but it is very hard for them to understand all this, I imagine. Hey, even my psychiatrist gets annoyed and angry at my gambling behaviour and she cares about me immensely. I\'m from Australia, I\'m not sure where you\'re from the US I think? In Australia we have a very good government run free 24hr gambling help line. They are very caring and we can call them any time as many times as we need. ESPECIALLY if we are at risk of harming ourselves or just feeling that bad. Do u have a help line like that in the US? I hope so. Ours is funded by the taxes that our govts make from all this stupid gambling in the first place!!! I hope you keep getting the help that you need and I wish you all the best for your recovery, kind regards, Sue
