DBS
Well where did that thought come from. Im okay, but meds I have increased , from 4 hourly sinamet. To which color pill will I take now, the little yellow one, the white one or the pink one.
Azilect = 1 in the morning ( gosh that costs $150.00 for 30 little pills) it has been suggested that Australia put it on PBH (meaning the government subsidize it) or they will give me 2 years free supply until they do
Sinamet 100/25 = every 3 hours, until the Azilect kicks in ( been on that two weeks)
Sinamet Cr = 1 at night to keep the dopamine levels up, until morning
Pills, Pills , Pills.
So I asked my neuro if I can have DBS, I will be interviewed in 3 months time, to see if I am eligible. 3 year waiting list, so I thought I would get in now, as I will probably need it then.
Truely that does not bother me.
I decided that I need to focus even more about living in the moment, and not dwelling or worrying about how I feel today, because tomorrow I probably wished I felt like I did yesterday.
Makes perfect sense to me

I know the feeling of Pills and more Pills...I take them for PD, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol...about 20 per day

Hi Peachy, it is nice to plan ahead, it gives you feeling of some control.. DBS in future , it is a good think when it works. You will feel absolutely normal from a beginning , that is the only time when u hear therapeutic edema. You feel so good u forget to take you meds. that will be the time to reduce them. Pay close attention haw you feel and when u start decline , that is when u take your meds. I am telling you this because i did not do it . No one advise me . i had a chance to reduce my meds, but no one suggested it. That is , i think where Dr miss the boat, sort of speak, and another tot. In 3 years the DBS may be greatly improved. And yes, the meds are expensive here also. With PD u are for ewer tied to medical and pharmaceutical community. I suggest u read bps post on the Sinemet. Love Zlatica

Re DBS.
Please allow me to point out if I may, that it does not follow that by havng DBS you will decrease your medication, although it could well do that too.
Rather, having DBS it allows the other symptoms of Parkinson\'s such as bradiskinesia, which remains progressive, to be treated with increased dosage, dopermine replacement AND have dyskinesia conrolled.
Before DBS is considered, tests are carried out to check on the candidate\'s reaction to dopermine replacements.

Thank you all for thinking of me, with your answers and wisdom. I am very knew to thinking about DBS. I am very naive in that regard. My big concern, is OMG they will shave my head and I will be bald for a while, will that suit me.
Hope the majority of you can actually tell I have a blaze sense of humor , that is what keeps me going with this stupid disease.

Hi Peachy. it is not so bad ,once you have it an it works it is great. Watch for the infection, wash your hair every day with baby shampoo. Stay away from hairdresser untill the incision heals. When u wash hair do not press to hard on your scalp very gently run palms of your hands over your head and never let water run to long on one spot. Move head slowly gently back and forth to get the shampoo off. By the way ,I do not know haw is done in Australia but here they do not shave your had just a little spots under your hair. The toughest think I found you cannot take PD meds at the day of surgery , they have to make sure they place the wires in proper spot. The other problem for me was the MRI, u see I have claustrophobia, going in a tight places is a nightmare for me , unless heavily sedated. They have to do this to make sure they put the wires in a proper place, Good luck . Zlatica
