It's okay

I have been coming to this site since August 2011. I discovered it accidentally after my Dad passed away on May 14, 2011. It was a wonderful place to talk to people who were also grieving from their losses. I felt so much better to correspond with so many people and had so many responses that helped me through the roughest time of my life. I was here daily on a constant basis for awhile. It gave me the strength to go on with my new life without the person that meant the most in the world to me. Without this site, I don't know where I would be now. However and unfortunately, I was here quite a bit during my Christmas break trying to give words of comfort and advice, to the "regulars" as well as the "newcomers". I noticed things have changed here drastically since I started coming here. It seems a lot of people I used to talk to have disappeared and there is very little acknowledgement given when I do respond. It makes me feel as if my words do not matter or have no significant affect on anyone. In other words, what's the use in wasting my time and thoughts, on people that don't seeem to appreciate it? My words come straight from my heart and I deeply feel for all of us who are trying to continue with some type of normalcy in our shattered, broken lives. When words fall on deaf ears, I may as well keep my thoughts and opinions to myself. I'm sorry this site seems to have changed so negatively recently, and the once close knit bonds are now gone. The atmosphere no longer feels welcoming. I see no reason in talking when there appears to be no one listening. I can only speak for myself but, it makes me feel so much better to have someone to talk to and to let me know that my words aren't invisble. Therefore, in the future, I will still visit DS but limit my seemingly ignored input. There is only one person from here that I still keep in regular contact with. Chil has turned out to be an amazing, wonderful Godsend, whom I know will always be there for me and vice versa. I hope everyone finds a friend like her! Friends may be plentiful for some people but, the truly good, close ones are very hard to find! Thanks for being here for me, Laura!

I agree with completely. DS has changed drastically and I don\'t understand why. When I came on, it was so different. I was on constantly almost a 24/7 and always had responses. It was like the regulars and now I do want to help others but when I do respond, I don\'t hear back from them. I do know that when we first came on there are a lot of our friends who feel that same way about no responses. Do you know how I keep in touch with the regulars? after a while, I\'ll just send them a message to see how they\'re doing and if they\'re still on DS. Most of the responses I get is that they still are on DS but don\'t come on like they used to. I think its because they are healing and trying to move on. I do know they haven\'t forgotten all their friends in here but I guess a time comes when your not in that excruciating pain like when you first came on and they\'re starting to be able to do things in their life that was just completely pushed on the side. It\'s a good thing they can do this but I do know they haven\'t forgotten their friends here in DS who all helped them through a very hurtful and painful time. Go to your friends list and just stop by to say hi and let them know that you\'d still like them to keep in touch and that you\'ll do the same. Also, thank you for the beautiful comment you said about me. Like you said, I will always and forever be your friend. laura
