One day at a time
When my son Toby passed away I was amazed to find out how many friends he had that truly loved him - I had no idea.
They gave me a red book in which they had written memories and stories, and pasted in photos and mementos. I have found it so painful to read, but this morning I picked it up and noticed some lyrics from a song that one of his friends had written and they really 'spoke' to me so I thought I would share them with my friends.
i need you to be the strength of widows and soul survivorsi need you to be as fearless as new mothers and new fathersi need you to be the hope of hearts who lost true lovei need you to be the might of their first kissi need a purpose and i need a reasoni need to know that there is trophy and meaningto all that we lose and all we fight forto all our loves and our warskeep breathingkeep livingkeep searchingkeep pushing onkeep bleedingkeep healingkeep fadingkeep shining onthis is for the hearts still beating
I really feel these words have a lot of meaning for us survivors, we are the hearts that keep beating and we need to find inner strength from the depths of our being that we never, ever imagined we would have.
This is a true test for us, and there is no pass of fail, but we will get a gold medal for giving this fight every ounce of our strenght from every fibre of our being. We owe it to our friends, our family and we owe it to our loved on who has left us.
Be strong as you can be today and i hope these words inspire you as they inspired me this morning.
