Parenting up and downs,
I remember when I was seriously considering having children (about fifteen years age)
I had so many dreams and ideas about what it would be like and the kind of parent I would be.
I thought of all the joy and happiness it would bring me and my husband and the joy and happiness
we would bring them .
Well, my dream came true and with it the reality of bringing up children
It is tons of HARD WORK, WORRY, UPSET AND MOST OF ALL S T R E S S !!!!!!!!!!!
The worst part of it is that you make tons of mistakes along the way and your dreams of "the perfect
parent" you are goes out the window.
But you try your best and learn to forgive yourself, your children and believe it or not your parents
Yes because you realize that they are just faliable humans just like you - not totally bad or good!
Well so long until later,
back to the ups and downs of daily life

I know exactly what you are talking about. I had so many hopes and expectations when I first became a parent. Then reality slaps you in the face. You discover your children arent perfect, you are not the perfect parent. It is a let down and a reality check. Then you eventually come to terms with that and you are ok with it and just be the best parent you can be and thats good enough.I am working on that acceptance now. I dont have perfect children and I am not the perfect mom but I do my best and I love my children with all that I am..take care.. I have to get back to the ups and downs of life myself.
These are words of wisdom! I remember thinking that my mom didn\'t know what she was talking about half the time when I was a teen. Well, now I have a much better opinion of my mom and dad and appreciate what they tried to do for my brother and sister and me. I think it\'s the hardest job in the world to be a parent. It\'s all about guesswork and worrying (as you said) and feelings of being inadequate. But there\'s nothing as worthwhile in all the world! I wouldn\'t trade a minute of it for anything. I have a cousin who\'s married and doesn\'t have any children, I think by choice. She has two masters degrees, an important job, and has travelled with her husband all over the world. I wouldn\'t trade with her even on my worst day of parenting!
Absolutely, it is an intense experience, you learn a lot about love and sacrifice and grow and learn a lot about yourself through the good and bad times, the successes and the failures. Most of all you learn to forgive yourself and your family members including your children. You hope that they will forgive you too someday for the blunders. Since we are all humans, trying to do the best in this difficult and confusing world.
