New

Hello, I'm new here. You can call me Pink :)
This site looked like it might be really good place to be. My main reason for joining was to see if this might help me deal with the recent loss of my mother. I see that there are other groups here to join so perhaps I'll be taking a look at those too. I'm in my 40's and my mother passed away a month ago taken by cancer. A writer by trade and nature I want a place that I can air things that might be too terribly depressing for your standard Facebook, Twitter post. I find I don't want to deluge my friends and acquaintances with my constant grief as well. They would not feel put upon I know, but I have no idea how long I might feel this way. Even the best and most well meaning of friends deserve a break!
It occurred to me, finally, that a forum set up specifically for that with people going through the same thing would be the better outlet. I hope to post often through out the different topics too. I find that I'm also stretching my writing muscles. A win/win overall. I live in the Midwest with my longtime boyfriend and a small zoo of fish, turtles and one cat! Fozzie (cat) is new to our household.
When he first came I felt kind of bad that he was coming into a grieving house. I just lost my mother and in the 6 months before his arrival we lost our 23-year-old Xena (cat) and our 14-year-old big boy Ziggy (cat as well). Bam Bam, big hits one right another. I was worried that I wouldn't have the energy and full alertness to make him feel comfortable and well loved, but he seems to be happy for the good chow, the warm place and the love I can give him. He just curls up near me when I don't have the mental fortitude to focus on his toy obsession. It's a huge obsession! lol .. We're adjusting though.
Well kind of a long introduction post, but there it is. Nice to meet you :) I could include more but those are the highlights. See you!

Hello Anella1.
Thank you for the kind words and I am so truly sorry for the amount of loss you have experienced. No one should go through so much. Thank you for taking time out to comfort me. I think I made a good decision as well in joining the site. I think that reaching out might be the best way I can find peace. Just the constant working through of my thoughts and emotions are going to be beneficial to me and I hope that I can also help others here in times of need as well.

I know that for many faith offers them reassurance and I think that it\'s a very good thing, unfortunately for me I will have to find my understanding in other ways. As you mentioned we each are different in the ways we grieve and what we need to help us. I just haven\'t found mine yet. I hope too one day. I know it\'s out there. I just have to keep looking. I also know that hole that you speak of. The one that can only be filled by that one person. It\'s the one that hurts so terribly. Thank you again so much for responding to my post. It helps to know that I am not alone in the way that I feel and that other people struggle as well. I miss her more than the moon and stars combined.

I will try to locate the \"When Someone You Love Dies\" literature or perhaps I can locate something online that might be close to it. Thank you for the idea. It might help. :)
