Just when you think you're back....wham!!!!! I was back in my home in the wee hours of Thursday morning. By Friday I had the house cleaned, everything put back from my extended stay with the grandkids and the yard mowed. Friday afternoon I spent with my granddaughter getting some things to take with me when I go to see Lance on June 28th, going to Barnes & Noble, getting the oil changed in my car, the tires rotated, new wiper blades and a full tank of gas. We also went to a nursery and I bought some petunias and a purple butterfly bush to replace the one that had died last year. We ate supper out, rented a movie and had settled in for the night at about 9:00 p.m. and it began to rain, storm actually. Well it didn't quit raining for 14 hours. At 6:00 a.m. the fire rescue came and evacuated us from our mobile homes so Kaite and I went to her house. Well, the storms continued and everyplace started flooding. My daughter-in-law had run out to get some things from the store and then to check on her friends house (who was out of the state). In the process they closed the highway and she could not get home. Luckily I was there with the kids but with no vehicle and no way of checking on the status of my house. Well, when the highway was finally opened Sunday morning, she came home, got me and off we went to see how things were at my house. Well, my car had been submerged in water up to the windows for many hours and there had been at least 10 inches of water rushing through the inside of my mobile home and 3 feet of water in my shed!!!! I have to tell you that I am just sick. I had just gotten my home back to normal after the inside flood last winter. This time there is no fixing it. I'm waiting for the insurance adjuster to call and come access the damage. The sad thing is that my mobile home was paid for and I only had lot rent. I worked 2 jobs for 8 years to get to that position so that I could comfortably pay my bills and have just a bit left for the little extras like fixing up my yard, taking the grandkids places...who knows what will happen now. I am going to stay with my daughter-in-law for the time being until I see what happens with insurance, FEMA, etc. My home was only a mobile home and my car was a 99 Buick but it was my independence and my comfort place. Nothing can compare to having to learn to live without your child, but losing your home and your vehicle ranks up there in stress and anxiety I'm telling you. My computer is gone so I only have internet at work. Know that I love you all and am thinking of you always. If you have a little bit of time, please pray that things will work out for me and I will handle it without going into the deep, dark hole...love and hugs to all...Lynn

good lord! you are really getting socked . when it gets like this its okay to ask for something to help take the edge off from a doc, at least to function somewhat. this is a lot right now. i am sending you love and i know you will ride this out, but its okay to ask for some help when it gets to be too much. love.
Oh Lynn...I am so sorry. I definitely have time for prayers for you. You are a strong woman. This is a horrible thing...but it is not the worst thing...you already have been through that. Take care of you and know that I love you and will be thinking of you...Karen
Lynn, My goodness, how much is one person supposed to survive! I\'ll be sending all the good thoughts I can your way. Is there anything I can do from TN? Do you need anything I can send? Like Karen said, be sure to take care of YOU. This is going to be tough I know, but maybe there will be a silver lining somewhere, somehow. Here for you any way you need me. Sending big, big hugs and loads of love and hope that things will work out! Cyn
I live in a town South of you and the creek that was down in the back yard had flooded and it had my mowers submerged in the water. The water actually covered the mowers. Water did get in the basement and in my garage but that is nothing to what you are going thru. I have been watching the news and keeping up to date on things and I watched a video and it had an elderly lady crying...it broke my heart. I logged into the American Red Cross\'s website and I donated some money that my dad had left me.I wanted too. You don\'t have your home or your car left. I also went to a church in Martinsville this morning and I gave some clothes and some blankets to them. I sat and prayed with the preacher. I was thinking that who would have known that half of the town would be flooded. My thoughts and my prayers are going to you and to everyone effected by the floods. Just remember that you are safe and you are alive...you have gone thru the worse which is loosing your son.....I am here if you need to talk or if you need anything at all!!
Lynn-
I do not know why you are being asked by the universe to endure this. I am so very sorry. What I know is that you will see Lance soon and I think that will feel great. I think the DS community can really be a source of some ideas as to how to get this all figured out. FEMA is difficult to deal with, and if you need help following up with them and staying on the details, I volunteer to help you.
I hope you can try to find some peace amidst all this mess. I understand what you mean about the loss of independence. You have had so much to deal with. This community adores you and I hope all of us can help lift you above this challenge. I am thinking about you in a very real way today. I offer whatever help you need. Caroline
