Hello,
I don't write in this journal too often but tonight I'm really scared..crying scared actually...not sorry for myself..celexa has been so good for me since being on it for four years...but now I've gained 60 lbs and I think that the SSRI is the reason...I weighed 110 before being placed on it..now I weigh 172 and I'm a little over five feet...never had to diet or worry about my weight...I started tapering off the drug this evening...with physician advice...I'm hoping that I will be able to find another way to cope without celexa as this weight gain is not acceptable...I want to cry but I just can't seem to..I'll try to keep this journal current as this is a new journey for my fibro and me...

I\'m write there with ya! Except I can\'t blame my weight gain on any meds, my was very slowly over the years - 5\'3\" and 200 poungs. Had lost 40, and now have gained about 25 of it back. I never used to have to worry about my weight, either. As for thhe meds, there are alot out there that won\'t make you gain weight. I\'m on Effexor, and have few to no side effects from it. Try to keep positive. You and your dr will find the right one. And your friends here are your friends no matter what. ((((((((((((((((((BIG HUG))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Those ssri\'s will get you. I put on alot of weight to with them. The only one that doesn\'t cause weight gain for me is Wellbutrin. I am in the process of getting rid of this dam weight now. I found a really good free site for losing weight, where you can track your foods/calories and they even have a support board for Fibromyalgia and losing. Inactivity has really gotten me too, that and over 40.

the site is:

Don\'t be down on yourself. It does no good and will only make you feel worse. Each day is a new one and we have to move forward. I hope you feel better, and journaling is very good....Take care, hugsss San

It\'s morning now...and you are all so appreciated and wonderful to be here for me as I am, obviously, for all of you...I cut my dosage in half last night so I\'m on my way (weigh lol)...I have already joined Weight Watchers and the guy on Extreme Makeover\'s has a great diet plan that I have been on and off of for six months...I should have been a stick with what I ate....that\'s what made me start to think that it\'s the meds...I will visit sparkpeople for sure today...I already ride my recumbent bike for 45 minutes (something I\'ve done for two decades anyway)..my husband is going to help me to lift weights correctly..I know that will take some getting used to now...in the past no problem as you all know...I\'m not put off by the pain when I exercise...I have more pain if I don\'t...besides I\'ve got to keep my legs strong or else I wouldn\'t be able to ever move...right...I think I\'m going to start to dance (or whatever it has become at this point) to rock for at least 15 mins a day...music is great and so are the benefits...I\'m just so grateful I don\'t turn to food when I\'m down..(ebay watch out)...if you don\'t mind I\'d like to include you all in my friends slot.....San, can you tell me how Wellbutrin feels for you compared to other SSRI...David (my friend and dr) would have written a script for me yesterday but I said I wanted to see how I did without anything first...my only issue is Wellbutrin is the seizure possibility with it...anyway the sun is out...my heart is much lighter this morning and I am hopeful...love and hugs to all of you...Susan

Hi! I also have gained weight on the meds. I know how you feel. I was put on wellbutrin years ago for depression and I was on it for almost a year. I didn\'t gain weight with it and had no side effects with it. Take care!

I\'ve gained most of my weight while I was on Effexor(for the last 5 years). I went on Weight Watchers this last fall. I lost my initial 10% and then I got stuck, while in the middle of this FM flare. I decided to lower my Effexor on my own, but it was a killer on my system. My doctor has me on Cymbalta now and I am starting to lose again, even though I am no longer on weight watchers. I just don\'t seem to have much of an appetite since I\'ve gotten on Cymbalta.

Interesting...it\'s all so confusing...I\'ve been on celexa for four years but also went through menopause at the same time..I thought this weight was from that but I don\'t believe that it is so that\'s why I\'m risking everything to go off and see what happens...60 lbs is nuts for me...I\'ve never been overweight in my life...so good luck to all of us...

Hi! Another Wellbutrin cheerleader here! I take the plain form because I was allergic to the coating on the XL(extended release) pills. I have been on Cymbalta, Celexa, and Effexor. I had weight gain and headaches with Celexa and Cymbalta. I had terrible pain behind my eyes and weight gain with Effexor. But with Wellbutrin there is none of that. It helps a lot with hunger, it gives me energy, and it boosts the sex drive into overdrive. I researched the seizure side effects on it on WebMD and the percenting is very small. I am no doctor and am not trying sell you on taking it, but it has been such a help to me that I wanted to answer your questions incase it can be a help to you too.Blessed Be!
