Its a difficult day to get things rolling. I'm dealing with career issues (as in "failure" and where to go from here), relationship issues (as in "failure" - or maybe just coming to a better state of reality), financial issues (see career issues above) and some physical issues (getting better though).  My biggest problems right now are that I feel overwhelmed by things I can't seem to get in order, and worrying that career setbacks and changes are about to destroy me.  Its not a good day. Tomorrow will, hopefully, be better.  I joined this site to see if I can get some support and, hopefully, provide others with a shoulder to cry on or, even better, another voice of encouragement.

I\'m not sure what you mean by failure w/your career issues, so please don\'t think I\'m trivializing your situation. I truly believe things happen for a reason, even if we never figure out the reason. I also believe that there are no coincidences. Failure only happens when we give up. We will always make mistakes (some being whoppers:), but if we learn from them and change/do something different, then they are successes, not failures. Forgive my bluntness - a lot of people\'s selfworth is attached to the \"success\" or \"failure\" of our careers &/or marriages. If that is true with you, please don\'t be so hard on yourself. Remember that old saying that when one door closes, another one opens. Sometimes we\'re so busy looking behind us at the closed door, we miss the open one right in front of us. (I do it all the time:). I know it\'s hard to do that when you\'re also dealing with what you probably perceive to be the \"failure\" of your marriage AND your career (hope I haven\'t misunderstood what you wrote). I am at a huge crossroad in my life and am in total stuckness (ever read Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance?) too. So maybe we can support each other.

Hang in there hon. My entire life has been nothing short of a rollercoaster, and I do hope in the future it gets calming, and peaceful, and pleasant.
In the meantime, we do have ea other on here. I agree with wist, people do tend to compare their success as a human with their accomplishments. I also agree that doors close for a reason. We many not know the reason why but it will be revealed at some point.
hang in there and know that folks on here care about ya!!

Hey - is good to write journal, cos it puts thoughts on \"paper\" and you can lock it if you don\'t want comments, and show friends if you want our non-expert help.

Women don\'t fret about careers as much as men - usually been in and out of lots of jobs while having kids etc. But far as I know career is very important to the blokes I know. Their self-worth is based on this.

Try to see this lapse of career development as a time to find your self-worth inside yourself, and not related to career issues.

Same with the relationship thing. (REALLY hard). Now here is a big woman thing. Our whole self-esteem can be based on being in a relationship. But again, find your self worth inside yourself without it being based on whether you have a partner or not.

Having said that - making frineds, socialising gently in good places where you have a hobby, interest etc is likely to bring you into friendships with women who are then more likely to develop into a relationship.

And money...............aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh. Its amazing what you can make with pasta! Downsize that car!! (OK JOKING!)

good luck. Write some more.

I suffer from depression as well, and I am an attorney. I was very successful for many years, but now I can\'t get anything done. Stress and too many \"irons in the fire\" triggered my depression. I believe that I need to change jobs. Have you considered that option?
