sounds like edema and it needs to be treated gingerly...get your feet/legs up above your heart...stack some pillows under your legs while sleeping to help to reduce the swelling too. do you have a tetnus (sp) shot up to date? only asking bc you said you stepped on a nail. there is an Rx called lasix which maybe your doc will prescribe for you even for a few days. and how about antibiotics....did you get any kind of infection in your foot from stepping on the nail, friend? this may be repeating what you already have heard, been told and/or know while I am just sending a response to your shout out, bro! God bless you!!
Hi peters I agree with the above post. I have had alot of trouble with my feet and legs swelling because of meds. However, one thing that I just discovered only by accident, to me diet pepsi is my 5th food group, I love it but after my last surgery could not stand the smell or taste of it you guessed it, my swelling and weight went down and stayed down then my taste buds returned to normal and so did my desire for my favorite beverage. I have learned I can not have more than3 cans a day 3 tops, I rarely finish a can because as soon as it starts to get warm I dump it. Hope this helps.
Hugs & God bless

Sounds like when you stick a needle in a balloon. It goes down. Same with your foot. The nail let out some of the hot air! lol
I am so sorry your feet have swollen. I do not have an answer, but it dont seem right. If you cant get anywhere with dr. then try ER or maybe a foot specialist? Love Ya...Julie
Hi it\'s me again. Well as an R.N., it would be hard for me to say what\'s causing your swelling unless I know more, for ex what meds you\'re taking, treatments, etc. Is your BP normal or high? Good suggestions above, to raise your feet on a pillow as much as possible and also make sure a doc sees that foot soon. You don\'t have diabetes do you? At any rate, you don\'t need us making guesses; you NEED to be seen by a doc! If yours isn\'t cutting it for ya, find a new one! I did that last yr w/my endo, I fired him and got a great one now: of course you have to check on your insurance who\'s on it,etc. and make sure your new one is on your plan, and also whether the doc has any recommendations (check the websites such as American Medical Asso., Family Practice doctors website(it\'s a good idea to have a good FP for all of your everyday medical needs then he can refer you to specialists at needed)...let me know if I can be of more help ok? I\'m here for ya!
Well i don\'t know if this will help you but i also get swollen feet;realy bad;i can\'t find my ankle it;s so bad;and also my fingers;my doctor said my body retains a lot of water;ang to stay off my feet till the swelling go\'s down;and stay a way from salt;now i am a disable women;osterio arthious in my knees;i use a scooter to get around;so i am not on my feet long;he sad it can be quite dangreious because it cut\'s off your criclation;i should get some more water pills;i\'am also on a lot of strong pain medication;witch causes cont.;so that may have something to do with my swelling;i don\'t know;hope this helped a bit.;your friend carla7777;hugs.;but go to your doctor to be safe.
