It truly has been a journey. I am better now because of that journey and the support from the blogs I read on DS. I am about 20 pounds from my ideal weight. I can pretty much eat what I want except white bread and byproducts. Whole grain bread and pasta are fine in the proper amount lol. I really try to do protein for breakfast. I like at least 20 grams and preferably in the form of a slushy muscle milk shake, sometimes I will eat a corazona oatmeal square and 2 turkey link sausage. My lunch protein shake and fruit or salmon salad a couple of whole grain crackers and fruit. Dinner a piece of meat and 2 veggies of color or salad and a serving of desert just in a smaller portion. I try to walk 30 to 45 minutes five days a week. But all I did was walk walk walk and I tried to add elevation such as stairs or a hill sometimes and it worked for me. Just find a routine you are comfortable with and stick to it. Yes, in the early stages, I wondered if having the surgery was a mistake but I know for sure it wasn't. I do not take meds for diabetes or high blood pressure anymore and I have way more energy. I have a hard time if I eat fried foods now but fried foods are double if not triple the calories of grilled or baked foods and I do grill and oven fry with less flour and oil and the food is great so I am not really missing anything. So my friends keep your head up each day will get better, just find basic foods you can eat and stick to it and add a new food item weekly, and see if your body tolerates or reacts positively or negatively to that; and plan plan plan your meals. Best Wishes...
