hi all. long time no post. i have been so so busy. i've started my own gardening business so getting all ready for this years season. winter is winter. trying to keep busy and active. (that is hard sometimes).
regardless of all that, i am still sober!!!!!! 5 years and counting. for anyone new who may be reading this, 6 years ago i would have told you you were crazy if you told me i could do it. i know now i was reaching out for help and i thank god i found this site and someone very special who helped me more than he knows. he know's who his is. hugs my friend.
take that first step. it is the hardest step you may ever take but it is also a life saving step. not only for yourself but for the loved ones around you. i know this is so cliche but if i can do it anyone can do it. it comes from within your self. the want for a better life. a need for self respect and dignity. it does get better. you get back so much more than you realize you lost. i have respect and love from my children again. they want to be with me and go places with me. they are not ashamed of me anymore. that in itself is worth more than any drop of alcohol ever could be. THINK ABOUT IT.
i have no more hangovers or fog. i can think and plan. i have goals and some i have reached. i am outgoing again, i have my own business and yes, at the age of almost 52, i got my drivers license. woop woop. i can think about what i have to do in a day and plan instead of when i can have my first drink and will i have enough to last me all day. i can remember what i did lastnight and the nights before instead of blacking out everynight and wondering how i got in bed let alone what i did. what a feeling!!!
it can be better. i am proof of that and so are so may other addicts who are now sober. take that first step. get help. go to your dr and ask for help. go to an AA meeting and ask for help. go to family if you can and ask for help but first take a good look at yourself and be honest for this one time about your drinking. if you have come to this site you probably already have. otherwise why be here?
well enough preaching from me lmao. i need to come back here more often.
here's to another day sober.
