Very busy day...and I didnt even "work" today.
My Jeep needed some work, so I did get that done today. Clouds and sun..taking turns all day, but thankfully it didnt rain while we were working.
The rear axle was leaking...not good....and I had it repaired about a year and half ago. Sue's brother Phillip who is a diesel mechanic came over to help me out. I have the repair manual and after doing some research, I was fairly certain I could do it myself. Phillip came over to kinda guide me and watch over. I am blessed!
Took off the tires, no problem
Took off the disc brakes... no problem
Unscrewed the 4 bolts that hold the axle on...no problem...
Removed the axle..then had to remove the wheel bearing off the axle...a bit of a challenge there.
Put the seals in, the new bearings etc.
The left was leaking much more than the right...and we figured out why. i thought Phillip was going to go through the ROOF.
When I had them replaced, they used a chisel to remove or put the new bearing on and sliced the seal AND the metal axle... wtf???
So..... it has been leaking the entire time since I had it REPLACED. Bastards!
After this ordeal...Ive decided that now I have the book, im just going to learn how do all of this myself. We have every mechanic tool known to man in the garage...why the hell not. It was all of $103 in parts.....and they charged me over $800 for the last fix. It took seriously about 2 hours total for me to do this and that was with phillip and I chattering away the whole time. I say GIRL POWER. Drove it around for a bit..runs perfectly.
I signed up today for a Jeep run through the Adirondack mountains. Its next weekend..Im kinda excited about it. Its all Jeep people that ride through off road trails to see the fall foliage..and they have a big picnic at the end. they offer a few off roading driving instructions (not that I need those) but I thought Jax would really love to go through the mountains and 4 wheeling in a group. Should be fun..Ive never done one before.
Made Phillip lunch, chatted some more, 15 family members for dinner tonight as my aunt and uncle are on their way back to NC tomorrow. I havent seen my cousin Rich in about 11 years..so good to see him as he lives in AZ. Busy busy day.
so, I am somewhat unemployed. The contract I had fell through as I discussed in previous journals with all the drama at the shop. Then today she says she still needs time and can I not come in until Friday. WTF?
Danielle and Dorena (who used to work along with me) are opening their new space on Monday. Danielle called and asked if i wanted to check the place out tomorrow as they are getting it ready to move in....so tomorrow I will be helping them out.
Still havent heard from Jay... I still have no clue what is going on....
I cant wait to get my hair cut tomorrow.... its grown so so much and I just cant deal with it anymore. i so dont feel like a girl today after working on the Jeep and this nasty grease i still have on my nails. ICK Total excuse for a mani pedi..maybe Thursday.
