Well I guess some will want to know a bit about myself. It started when I was in H.S. which my mom was sick, which she got a kidney/liver transplants. The doctor suggest the family to get tested. I was positive for Hep B and it was when I was about 18/19 which from there my life I thought was over. I had my liver biopsy and there was scar from the results. From there on I went on Intron Interferon treatment for 4 months, three shots per week which was hell back then. I know the shots now may have improve. The result came back showing no sign of improvement, after a year later there was some sign of changes. The Doctor was excited that they think the treatment works. Well going for another year thinking that I was good, the Doctor came back with bad news. My Hep B is active again. The Doctor did not want to put me back on the Interferon as I told them that was hell I went through. At the time there was one drug \"Lamivudine\" which they put me on. My test show improvement again for a year which the Doctor decide to take me off again. Well after 3 to 6 months I really don\'t remember, my result show my Hep B is active again. So from there on I\'ve been on the same drugs till now. A lot of things happen while go through this, no one to talk to, no answer, thinking that I will die soon. Even my Doctor told me she have no answer and do not know what to do. She refer me to NIH for more help. So from there I was seeing two Doctor and more time has past by. Also my 10 yr has past due for another live biopsy which I kept on delaying due to that I was scare to know the result. Well I decided to finally schedule for one after 12 yrs later and \"WOW\" Doctor came back happy and telling me that my result show great sign of improvement. My live actually was better then the first biopsy. I was excited and happy from that day. After seeing my second Doctor at NIH, he told me there are great news out there and other patients show that they can get off the drugs. From that point I tear up and felt great that I maybe one of the patient to follow. Well I am more positive now, I am more open up and don\'t feel bad at all. I know I still have a Hep B virus, but it\'s not active or show no sign. I just need to keep on fighting and stay healthy.
hi neko .... have u checked ur viral load ? just want to know becuase i have the same problem .. and are your alt, ast normal ? and how is ur billrubin?
Totog1, Yes... I\'ve been under treatment for over 10 yrs now. Again I\'m being monitor by two doctor. One at Georgetown University and another at NIH. What I was told is that my Hep B is not active for some time now. About over 5 to 6 yrs now. The Doctor at NIH told me that there is a cured to this Hep B. But I\'m not one of them yet, but I maybe when the time come. He didn\'t want to make it like I will be cured, but he\'s giving me positive info. He also stated that I am normal as I can be. But I do have the Hep B virus. As long the virus isn\'t active, I can live a normal happy life. Do the normal things, but just can\'t smoke or drink. To be honest with you, I\'ve drink a beer or two. Smoke one or two cigarettes or cigars. But the fact is that I don\'t do it daily. I enjoy my life right now and moving forward. I do put in the back of my head that I still have the virus. As long I stay healthy I will be ok. I believe it\'s best to ask your doctor what is going on with your health, each and one of us are at different stages. Don\'t bring your blood lab result here to have other member view it as we are not doctors.
yeah . thanks for the info.That is right. if we stay healthy we can definity be ok even with this virus. I have been doing the same thing,moving on with life as you said \"at the back of the mind\" i also know that i have this virus. lets hope for all of us that one day we can be cured of this virus. Till that time we would do our best to live healthy.
