I've been out and away from my computer this weekend. First moment back.
I went to a Jazz festival yesterday and it got rained out with half of the equipment getting shorted out. I came back in the evening and they put on a a great show with some missing musicians and rigging some sound equipment from what they had. What troopers!
I promised myself I would go BY MYSELF and talk to at least one person. I accomplished that. I didn't make any new friends or have someone to sit with, but at least I was out of the house and talked to a few strangers. This was extremely hard for me. I am very shy with strangers. No one really noticed me or cared that I was alone. Everyone had family and/or partners and I swear I was the only person that didn't have someone. I started to cry when the first band played a sappy song. Feeling sorry for myself again..boo hoo...wah...wah..
But then, the two last bands were headed by women. One a fabulous sax player and the other an awesome guitar player. For some reason this filled my head with hope again. Like we don't need men to acheive success or feel whole.
Also HE hated Jazz and I guess I had lost the love of Jazz music married to him. I didn't listen to it much during our 12 years together. Isn't it sad how we give up so much of who we are to please another. It was like a dormant part of my brain lit up again with this wonderful music!
I went to the movies this morning with a couple that my ex and I are friends with. We saw the Harry Potter movie. It was great, of course. I was good and didn't talk about my ex. It was so nice of them to invite me out and I really appreciate them asking me.
This weekend I'm feeling a bit more emotional and feel the need to fill my head with something besides memories of HIM. Housework doesn't cut it sometimes.
I lost 2 pounds this week and took my starting point measurements at YooHoo's suggestion. We are trying to encourage each other to stick to our plans. Sure is a wake up call to check the measurements. I hope I can stick to my plan and get continue loosing regularly.
Hope everyone one else is having a good weekend.
