after 18 years it's official, I don't particularly like my psychiatrist as a person. Last night we had our usual Monday night session. He calmly informs me that I may be developing a severe case of OCD. He just keeps adding labels. I am not myself. I am person with cerebral palsy and bipolar who just happens to have an eating disorder with parents who are over 80. I fully believe he has finally stopped treating me as a patient and is now treating a bowl of alphabet soup.
I know the doctor is a busy man and there are a lot of very sick people but I don't think he even knows my middle name.
It has a lot to do with my medical insurance. I a.m. strictly a Medicaid patient. The only Medicaid psychiatric unit is the state hospital. I know I don't want to end up there.
I will be very compliant with my medication and grit my teeth. Suicide is not my answer.

Many people deal with many problems every day, I an still Stephanie. the same person i\'ve always been inside and out. My name isn\'t cerebral palsy hypertension or anxiety. Try to be the best person you can be where you are.You are YOU and not anyones label. Hang in there! Hugs-Stephanie
I am so glad to see that you know suicide is NOT the answer, I feel your frustration when it comes to dealing with doctors, I am not convinced that they take women seriously in general, and it must be worse when a mental health label is involved. All I can say is what you probably already know, educate yourself as much as you can about what is going on with your body and mind, and do as much as you can to take good care of yourself. HUGS, Sharon
Just because they have an MD after their name doesn\'t mean they know everything. Only you truly know yourself and what\'s inside you. Sounds to me like you need to look for a new pdoc. I wish you luck on that....It\'s hard to find a good one that actually takes the time to LISTEN to you. As for the labels, I agree with you. Just because someone is bipolar, or has OCD or an eating disorder, etc. doesn\'t mean that they need to define you. You are still you. I\'m not a person with BP, I\'m still Heather....So I very much empathize with you honey. I\'m here for you :)
