Spring?

This is supposed to be the first day of Spring Break for the schools around here. It doesn't matter so much to me since I quit my job. The school wasn't too happy but when I met my replacement I knew it was meant to be! She is young (I'm 61), lively, intelligent, perfectly qualified and I believe will be the perfect choice for these kids. God bless them. On my last day the kids gave me a party, many cards and bouquets of flowers and at least 150 hugs. I will miss them terribly but my energy is so low. My mind is still not clear. Funny story: On the last Thursday the president of the school asked me out for lunch. he drove and paid for the meal. Then I went and got in the car and waited for him to come around to the driver's seat. I looked out  my window and he was frantically shaking his head. I opened the dooor and said, "What?" He said, "That's not my car!" I was so embarrassed but I told him that was a good example of how my brain doesn't work. The kids enjoyed that story too.
Well, it was 21 degrees when I got up this morning. I had planned on starting to clear a brush pile on the pasture where my husband's memorial will be held, but it is a bit brisk for me. There are other things I cand do. I can write thank you notes to my kids, see about renting tables for the memorial, talk to the township about the feasibility of burning off some brush and do some of those other things that have been on my mind. I really am a bit afraid about this memorial. I am afraid I won't do it right, whatever that is. I can see whay people leave so much to funeral parlors, but bothe Jmaes and I left our bodies to a nearby medical school and his children and I both thought a simple service in a field, under a HUGE black oak would be what was most suitable for  James. It seems like a lot to organize. Must remember widow's rule # 1: Ask for help.
I woke up thinking about how creative J was: enamalist, photographer, musician, and many more things. I feel the world really missed out on his gifts because he died so young (57) and worked so much. It still doesn't seem right, but he did have bad heart disease and he had told me when we married that he might die in in his forties like several uncles of his. I thought it was worth the risk and it was. I don't know why I am still here except to take care of the dogs and help out his children, father and brother as well as my sister and a few friends/ neighbors. I am almost glad to be alive. Not quite there yet but maybe someday..... I'd still rather be with him.
Make God laugh, tell Him your plans.
