I have always loved Great Danes - I think I need a Great Dane puppy and i am going to start looking for one now. They have a sweet temperment and don't need too much exercise so I won't feel guilty if I cannot walk her for hours every day. I have one other dog that is still with me and he is the best dog ever. He's a rescue and such a gentle soul and he truly adores me as much as I adore him - but he needs so much exercise that I feel guilty if I don't walk him a lot. I cannot be without a dog - I have loved dogs since I was 6. When I was a little girl I used to go out in my back yard and talk to my dog, Ginney, all the time. She was my safe place and i could tell her how I was feeling and she would sit there quietly looking at me while I cried. When I was 9 my father took her to the pound because she barked - and I was devastated - my friend was gone. When I realized he had taken her to the pound I would not talk to him for weeks and it took a long time for me to forgive him for that. When I was 10 my grandmother gave me a parakeet that was hand trained. I named him Ping. He could turn cards over, bob his head up and down and say "pretty bird" repeatedly while looking in a mirror and he sat on my shoulder all of the time. I used to love it when he would gently peck at my ears. My mother let the kid across the street go into my room while I was at school. He had his dog with him - he got Ping out of the cage and the dog killed my Ping. My mother left Ping on the floor of the cage for me to find. She was sitting at her sewing machine - sewing- and she merely stated what had happened while she continued to sew and offered no solace whatsoever. I was again devastated.I think the sorrow comes back up for me when I lose an animal. It all seems so unfair. I am an adult and should be able to deal with the loss of a pet in a more mature manner - but again, this loss is devastating. I have to go bury Lacey now.

It is never easy to lose a pet no matter who you are, and I am so sorry for your loss. But you have so much love to give another pet and still have the love for Lacey...
It\'s really hard losing a pet. Plus the loss just reminds you of the other losses in your life.
