today i took many many calls, though i shall never forget two of them that have hit me so hard. the first call i got was a 15 yof (year old female) who was in a car accident, called me freaking out.. which is understandable... I calmed her down long enough to get where she was, what she was driving, and in the middle of me trying to get her to talk to me to keep her awake... her last breath, and silence. i dropped my headset, and started bawling. i lost it. i cannot handle hearing someone so young dying, at the beginning of her real life... and the abrupt end. the second call was of a suicidal 26 yom ( year old male) and he called in saying how he wanted to end his life, take his pain all away. i told him about my grandfather. i have to keep him on the phone to keep him from actually doing it, so i talked about the first thing that came to mind.. grandpa. i told him how so many people out there dying from cancer, or disease are begging for another day, and his selfishness, he wanted to give up his life being a healthy male. i made him feel so guilty, he cried, sat down in his livingroom and waited for the cops and ambulance to arrive. so i saved one, lost one, and wished i could save them all. help????
