What a day....

Diane leyse Dunker an old high school friend died yesterday of bile duct liver cancer, she was diagnosed in November. very sad day for several of us ....more for me as I appear to be the only widow amongst the bunch chaatting on Facebook today.... and my first thoughts go to her husband and children, she was at peace and not afraid to die she felt bad for all she was leaving behind in grief...that was Diane....I have reached out to her stoic husband Mark to please call me anytime when he is needing to talk to someone who has been through this most difficult journey. Diane would have turned 50 on the 18th , we started a birthday card blast via snail mail last week, I suggested to everyone that I would have enjoyed receiving the birthday cards if it were me and suggested we send them anyway...
Another higher school friend had a double mastectomy today, she will be 50 on Feb. 18 also, she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer last week, my brother attended the funeral today of his close friend, lung cancer ...57
. Another young father of 2 ,  Glen is 35 found me on DS Esophageal Cancer site, he went through surgery last June 1 and has set back after set back, his lastest scan last week came back with the bad news that the EC cancer had returned, I am awaiting the news anyday that he too has passed away.

A new widow on a Facebook site was screaming out in pain today for help as she wants to die, I sent her several messages  to help her , told her to join this site and gave her my number , She wanted to talk now and i needed to get to the dentist so another friend called her and they chatted , very sad and I remember it all too well.. can't get out of bed, wants to die, when oh when will the pain end.... Help me please help me.... My heart aches...
She is in a financial disaster , no life insurance and is being told she needs to come to work next Monday ...And can't fathom how she can possibly return to work...  Which then makes me so humbled and grateful that I do not have financial issues as so many of my new friends do.... I tried to call her when I got home , no answer mailbox full. My friend Kathy said she did have. 15 year old daughter at home with her ....

Its been an exhausting few days .... And I won't even get into my issues with my family ...I am just going to be grateful for the gift of today ...

As we move along through this journey we call life, at a certain point it seems that we begin to know more people who have moved on than those that are still with us.

I am sorry to hear about the loss surrounding you these past few days and weeks. Your tremendous compassion, willingness and ability to reach out to those they leave behind is inspiring.

May the evening bring you blessings and peace ~ sending my love and hugs ~ Debbie

You know I think now that we have been through all the pain associated with widowhood we become more aware of the pain around us. You are such a blessing to these people who come to you. It is a rare individual who is able to help so many other\'s while still greiving themself. I am too familiar with the ugliness of cancer and the tragedy it leaves families in. Just be careful to not forget yourself in this whirlwind of activity. It sounds like you could also use a friend. I appreciate all that you do, and thank-you. As always I pray for the sick and the people who are greiving.

Hugs,

Robin

Remembering the fun happy times and yet so sad at how different my life is and how much has changed for me , but not for those around me ... Make sense and I\'m figuring it out ... I continue to be excluded as I am no longer a couple thus I need a purpose to go on and the only thing that seems to make me happy is helping someone in need

Wow--it\'s hard to imagine so much heartache and devastation in such a short period of time--but it\'s all around us. How wonderful for others that you are so attuned to it--but it\'s hard on you I know. Your kindness will come back to you many times over.

Tracy,
Yikes... so very sorry for the loss of your good friend. I know you totally understand how her husband is feeling, and when he needs to talk, I am confident you will know exactly what to say to him.
I also have so many dear friends who are battling different forms of cancer... 4 good friends, breast cancer...another one Melanoma & possibly thyroid.

Life can be overwhelming, but we know who holds the future and our faith & trust must remain steadfast.

I missed you last night. It was a great meeting.
Aloha my friend. Wish I could have joined you, but 2/14 is Bob\'s B\'day... and also that week-end I am watching my grandkids for an 2 days.

Hope to talk with you soon.. Love ya, Linda
