The most excellent news in the world is that I have a cash contract on this house for 2.6 million dollars - to settle on October 5th. Now all we have to get through is the 5 day cooling off period that the prospective buyer has, and we will be home and hosed.I had been praying for that to happen for so long. I knew it would take ages for the right buyer to come along as the house is at the top end of the market in this relatively small town. It was our dream home and we have not even been here 3 years, but on a sadder note, I have been here the last three months not as a married woman, but as a separated woman with her daughter. It is a huge house for just 2 people and 4 cats!It was tieing me here, as if I left town, then I would have to face the prospect of him moving in here with his slut and I simply could not do that. Not into my dream home. Now, I have no ties in this town. And you know what? I think that worries the shit out of him! I told him about the sale and my relief and he was obviously thinking about my comments about no ties here now as he sent me messages which I did not get and then rang me at 10.45 last night to wake me up to clarify an earlier comment I made about him being free now to go to his slut and me being able to move on. He wanted to check out whether or not I thought he still wanted to go down that track and when I said that I still had not made up my mind whether to take him back simply because of his untrustworthy nature, he was quite taken aback. I did not talk much as I was half asleep.Today he sends me a text and asks me to dinner tonight. Yesterday and last night he asked whether he would be coming straight home from the airport and back home to live. I simply told him I could not answer that.Good news also in that I spoke to our accountant and he will not let anything too risky go ahead. He will stop Mark in his tracks. It is only if mark sacks our accountant, that I need to worry. Our accountant is quite supportive of me and encouraged me not to let Mark use the equity in our homes to borrow against, and also agreed with me in that we use the money from the sale of this house to pay down our other mortgage and not reinvest it in anything else. He also suggested I ask not to have our super fund committed to any debt if Mark wanted to use it to build on that block of land he is keen on. In fact, our accountant I think will stop the block of land purchase should our tender be accepted as he thinks that the cash flow will be a problem. PHEW!!!He sees through mark and his rashness and he also agrees and has heard that the quietness of our business at the moment is due to his behavior as this is a small town. He agrees that he is more rash with time.I still need to be wary though, as after all, Mark pays all the accountant bills.I had a good day at golf after starting the morning coxing for rowing. Did not play terribly well, but was with friends. When I talk with them, I can see that having Mark back is a mistake. In my heart, I think it would be great for him to walk away, but I dont think he will, and I see myself as giving him another chance despite all of this. And I know that people will scorn me as at last I have the house sold, so no ties to keep me here. I know they will look upon me as stupid after all he has done. I know it.And in my heart, if I am honest, I also look upon myself as weak and stupid. But there is a part of me that believes he will come good and that is what I cant give up on. When I am with him, I am convinced he will never improve. When I am away from him, I see him as a good man. I am totally stuffed in the head because of him.Anyway, dinner tonight. He will not sleep here tonight. He has to get his HIV test first anyway. And I reckon a few nights here alone and he will have her over to show his true colours anyway. Lets wait and see.
