WHEW!

After my last two phlebs, I have not seemed to be able to 'catch my breath'. I just feel so winded and with each task,I MUST lay down for a bit. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and I have no choice but to work, take care of my family and my home, drive and do whatever else must be taken care of...I know in a sense all these tasks are blessings in disguise because if I lay down w/o reason to get up...will I ever get up again?
There is so much on my plate right now,again...maybe a good thing. Upon losing my mother to Myelodysplasia (orig. Essential Thrombocythemia) when the Graft Vs.Host 'turned' on her, I found out I had Hemochromatosis. My husband lost his grandmother and there were other family stresses going on all at once. So sometimes I don't know what to think about at once...And then I catch myself thinking about Mom...and how much I miss her and wish she were here with me thru all of this.
At this moment my main goal is to pinpoint my dizziness and get some energy from SOMEWHERE. With my next Dr visit next Weds I am going ask my Dr to consider letting me only do phlebs once a month or i'm afraid i'll never 'catch' my breath.
Funny thing too,and I feel like I should mention all that comes to mind just in case I might share anything with others who could help, I have been running low grade fever here and there and waking up with night sweats (yes I understand there is no such thing as diagnosing here, just wanting a comparison/opinion). My husband says I feel 'clammy'. I have had some people mention since I have 'bad veins' and everyone tends to only use my 'one good vein' that a port might be a good idea. I'm trying to think how this would work. Wonder if anyone else has had to do this?
I would be so SUPER happy if my joints started to feel better after awhile:) Dodging an arthritis diagnosis would be so awesome! It runs in the family,as well as diabetes and other auto immune diseases.

I pray that you are feeling better physically. I hug you for the sorrow of losing your Mom. I lost my Dad on Dec 22, 2003 and lost my Mom on Nov 30, 2004. It would break their hearts to know that they passed this gene to their family. It,s not there fault but we blame ourselves sometimes. I will never get over their passing.

Dan,
You have been a source of strength and hope for me. I can\'t thank you enough for your kind words and encouragement. Even tho my levels are not considered \'danerous\' at this point, I sure do feel like they are...Altho today I am feeling so much better! I am NOT taking this day for granted. I hve to admit tho, I am a little hesitant about going for my next phleb on Weds. since I have just gained strength. Are you altering your diet? Everything has iron in it! I am trying as of now, to only limit myself to things w/10% iron if I can help it and avoiding the obvious like red meat. I\'ve always had an aversion to it anyway...so no loss. BUT cereal was always my fave:( Most of them have 45-100%iron in them!

Losing my Mom is the saddest thing in my life. You\'re right, I won\'t get over it. When she lost her parents shortly before she died and she was so sick, she\'d tell me tht it didn\'t matter that she was a 61yr old woman...she still needed them. She suffered so much! She had such a hard time. I would have taken it all for her. I still can\'t believe she\'s gone...and if there was anything I could do to get her back-well...we already know that one.

Shortness of breath...After working a couple hours at work I feel that way like I can\'t catch my breath....It is an awful feeling. I haven\'t seen anyone else mention that. Is is scary. I find it happens more so when I am working, (I do hair, so blow drying) upper body movement. I pray to God I don\'t have heart disease. I am almost afraid to ask about it.
I also lost my mother, I was 24 and had my 1st child and was preg with my son. It was the hardest thing I have ever been thru. She was 52 yrs young. I watched her suffer for 2 yrs. When i start to feel down I just talk to her. And it really doesn\'t get any easier, but know that she is there with you every step of the way.

Since I\'ve dropped my previous Dr,I\'m having to wait a few weeks before I start up my phlebs again. Since I have had a break from them, I don\'t feel as bad. I think having all tht blood taken out,it takes your body some getting used to and it\'s harder for it to fight off things. Like when your immune system is down. THANK GOD for this support group, because i tell you, I would not even know that most of my symptoms and so on are common. Unfort. I went to the ER after my second phleb because I felt s bad and my bill was a whopping 1,600! I don\'t get why my Drs/nurses couldn\'t have warned me or acted like it was common??? I went to the ER because the on call Dr insisted. ANYWAY...So i\'m hoping that our bodies will just accustomed to all this and things will get better/easier. I\'m hoping also my joint pain diminishes a bit. My chest pain/shortness of breath freaks me out too-my previous dr kept telling me I had the flu but the flue doesn\'t go on this long.

Goodness, you were so young when you lost your mama. And it is very sad espec when your babies are so little and you need your mom and want to share with her. My mom was 61 and I NEVER thought i\'d lose her. We just got a Willow Tree for her grave today. I cried uncontrollably in the hallmark store:( But my husband is such a wonderful man and \'carried\' me thru it all.

I am glad we all have each other here-such a blessing...have faith and HANG IN THERE
