Before I drift off to sleep........
Thought you'd like to know that "P" is upstairs in my husband's office (I put him on a plane today and he's back out on the road) sleeping in the bottom of a cardboard box that has some old little spiral notebooks of his in the bottom of it. She's been using that box as a playground on those "take your psychotic cockatiel to work" days where he either brought her upstairs with him or she flew up in an indignant huff because he had left her downstairs with THE EVIL CHIN.......... P is NOT happy that "the daddy" is gone. She is SO unhappy about it that she is sleeping in an unoccupied room (ok, I did leave a light on for her) in an unoccupied portion of the house!
I tried bringing the box downstairs and putting it on top of the refrigerator for her (birds like to be up high as it reinforces their feelings of superiority) but that just wasn't going to get the job done. Was she grateful for my attention? Was she calmed and soothed by my ministrations to her feelings and her needs? Did she appreciate the fact that I didn't just suck HER up in the vacuum this evening while she was shrieking her displeasure with the "world according to P"............. Oh yes, she was very grateful............... truly, she was moved................
I'm pretty sure she really WORKED at not drawing blood WHEN SHE BIT ME!!!!!! LOL
In any case.............
I get the feeling this is really just the beginning......
Do they make Xanax for cockatiels?
Will vets prescribe it for the owners?...........
Do I have a recipe for Cockatiel Casserole?

I personally recomend Pargoric in the water; however, this miracle medicine is hard to obtain now....it always worked for the kids := Benedryl may be the answer! Then again a groggy cockatiel may be exactly what the Evil Chin has in mind! HMMMM I don\'t think it would be untoward for your husband to take P on his next trip. Imagine the conversational opportunities for a business man with a cockatiel on his shoulder. Solitary confinement is a just punishment for a threatened finger ambutation.
I AM however having a very hard time not picturing the mad hatter with a groggy cocketiel on top. :\"\"_)))) I may be loosing my mind?

Would you believe there is something you can get for her! I worked for a vet for some time and one thing I recommend is called \"Rescue Remedy\". You can put a drop into her water. It is 100% natural and is specifically formulated for things like separation anxiety in kids and animals. Some paramedics carry it with them for peaople in traumatic situations. I sent a bottle to my son while he was in Afghanistan. You can get it at any Co-op or natural foods store. Again, the name is RESCUE Remedy. Give it a try and let me know what you think. I have even used it myself when having a panic attack or extremely stressful time. Works every time!
