The new year has begun.  Welcome 2014!

I am not really sure what to write about but thought it was time to enter another entry.  Overall things are going well.  I'm adjusting to the new meds.  I find the days were I have to take 2 pills of the plaquenil a little bit more challenging then the 1 pill days but seems to be getting better.

Christmas was wonderful although we had quite a lot of serious things going on health-wise with various family members.  For the most part though we were all able to be well enough to get together and enjoy some of the celebrations.

For the new year my parents and I went to my sisters and we all ordered Chinese food.  Typically it's food I don't eat anymore but for the holidays I made exceptions and took digestive enzymes.  It was worth it.  I didn't have to think or worry about whether I was eating something that would bother me thanks to the enzymes.

But now it's time to get back on track and heal the digestive system again.  Things still aren't how they should be.  Bowel movements and anal fissures are still a daily battle.  I think there is improvement but definitely still an issue.  Bowel movements, despite the fibre and fluids I'm constantly putting into me tend to be hard and in pieces despite being regular.  If I start using products like Restoralax then things get too soft and causes a whole bunch of other issues including loose stool that comes out without me knowing.  So there's a balance somewhere somehow but I have yet to find it.  I'm still at my parents house from the holidays but I think I have some ideas of a few changes to make when I'm back at the apartment with adding coconut oil and things.

I'm planning to try to work more on building my activity level again.  I'm planning to also put in an application to volunteer at the SPCA.  In addition to that I'm planning to try 2 new recipes per month.  I'd like the goal to be higher but I don't have much of a grocery budget so I thought for now 2 would be reasonable to start with if I have to buy specific ingredients or even some basics that I'm currently not using.  As my basic supplies increase and I learn more then I will add more to the goal.  I'm hoping to make 1 of those recipes be a slow cooker option.  I'd really like to be using that.

Going to get going now.  I'm trying to catch up on the episodes of Hope for Wildlife that I have taped (on the PVR? I think it's called) at my parents place.  It's a local documentary style program but is so interesting.  They travel all over and learn about various species of wildlife and how they can best help them if they have to deal with them here in Nova Scotia.  Hope runs a wildlife rehabilitation centre.
