What a wonderful day! I never ever thought, if you asked me a year or two ago, that it would even be possible to have more then the occasional good day. I'm just so grateful to be alive and well enough to be able to enjoy it at all. Honest, I think I'm doing the best mental health wise that I have since childhood...like maybe 8 years-ish (give or take a few since I don't really remember much). It's so much easier to feel happy or at the very least content then it is to feel depressed....which doesn't really make sense because when you're depressed it seems so much easier to be depressed and too much work to try to be happy. Weird I know. Very confusing! LOL.
My appointment went well. Overall she's very happy with the improvement of how I'm feeling and the effort I am putting in and there's a few little tweaks and tips for me to try but overall it was great. She recommended a different magnesium that is suppose to be much more easily absorbed...of course it cost a fair bit more but if it works I'll be ecstatic! Get rid of those horrible chalky horse-pills that hardly work and if it works I'll be able to get rid of the valerian too so it would be worth the money. Plus I'm able to take minimal digestive enzymes now. Only will take them when eating out and if I am having a meal at home that might have some wheat or dairy in it. Considering I've had to take digestive enzymes with almost every meal since last summer this is great improvement!
Other then that I spent the day with mom. We had a great time...I spent way too much money but all on things I can use and a good chunk was on safe foods...lol. So expensive but worth it. Mom and I ate out, and we were going to go to the place we went for my birthday but at the last minute I said lets try this other place called Kempsters. Well we walked in the door and on a chalkboard right in the entry it says Gluten Free menu available! Yes! Okay so it's a small menu and half the items contained dairy it still made it much easier. And there was a special on any two (I think it was "any") meals for $16 which was amazing considering what I got alone would have been $14. Chicken Souvlaki with rice and salad, in case you are wondering. They did forget I couldn't have dairy and included Tzatziki (how is that spelt???) sauce but it was in a little container on the side so I just didn't use it. I wasn't 100% sure it had dairy but thought it did and asked to be sure (it's made with yogurt) so I put it aside but they offered to make a whole new meal for me if I wanted which was nice but not necessary. Everything tasted sooooo good. Haha it's one of the few times I'm happy that I'm still burping from my supper because I can taste all the seasoning...LOL. My digestive track felt slightly gassy and uncomfortable after but that could be from just the amount I ate (since I again ate way too much) or there may be something that I'm just not used to or didn't quite agree but it wasn't enough to stop me from being out or to cause me any real distress or discomfort so no complaints.
Anyway...should end this up...I'm not suppose to have screen time (computers, tv, cell phone, etc after midnight now...and it's 12:30am). We're trying to adjust my sleep time...but I figure if I can get off by 1am I'm still doing better then I have been lately. :) It's all about progress...less about perfection. :)
Gratitude:
1. I'm grateful that the sun was out today...sure the wind was cold and we even had snow this evening (nothing that stuck around, thankfully) but sunny days after a few grey days is always uplifting
2. I'm grateful that the delivery I was expecting came before I had to leave for my appointment...I figured it would come when I was gone and then I'd have to make alternate arrangements
3. I'm grateful that even though I'm low income that I have been able to keep my insurance going so that I can afford to go to the naturopathic doctor at least a few times :) It's so worth it...and even though we've only met twice I feel like I've been seeing her for years.
