Well, had my appointment with the naturopathic doctor. It went well...she's really nice, knowledgeable and easy to talk to.
She wants me to do an elimination diet...cut out dairy and wheat and refined sugars as well as add a high potency fish oil. Start taking my digestive enzymes again and also use Candigen Cream for the yeast. Also work on getting protein with every meal. I told her I will do these things except for Easter weekend (which is also the weekend after my bday). I also have to keep track of everything I eat (which I do anyway through My Fitness Pal) and take notes of any and all symptoms.
I have kind of suspected for months (before the fissures and infections even started) that I was going to need to try to go wheat and dairy free to see if that would help things and well I knew the sugar thing too and have been working on it.
She did make a connection that the fissures and subsequent issues seem to have started at the tail end, or shortly thereafter, of my Ontario trip. Makes complete sense to me too. What I ate while away, was what my friends were eating, which was pure junk. I'm not even joking when I say I was craving vegetables and everything healthy before I left their place and at every opportunity would buy something healthier. Probably why I ended up so sick for the last few days and the trip home. Was the worst cold I have had in years. I'm not blaming it all on how I ate while I was away...I know I was already having issues before hand but I think maybe it was kind of the "perfect storm".
In kinda sad news...Mom and I stopped into one of the local pet supply stores were they also are a satellite location for our SPCA...well... turns out the cat, Pepper, that I fostered was returned and put back up for adoption. She was there. I got permission to go in and see her and held her and petted her and gave her kisses and fought back tears. I'm near tears just thinking about her being there. She is such a beautiful sweet kitty, great for someone without other cats (she's not overly fond of other kitties). She's 6 years old (estimated) so that is a disadvantage....but she's still a great kitty. Part of me wishes I could bring her back with me again...but I know she will get better publicity being there...and with the rules at my apartment it's just not worth the stress. So Ebby is just going to have to put up with extra kisses and snuggles. Trying to remember the positives...at least the family she had been with thought enough to return her to the SPCA and not dump her on the street, like the fate of so many other kitties.

Sounds like a good plan. I know for myself after 9 months of gluten free living my hair has grown back. Funny I didn\'t notice so much but so many asked if I had new hairdo . I finaly realized my hair was thickening up. Yes!
It will be confusing in the beginning but get yourself some cookbooks out of the library. See it as an adventure in cooking and you\'ll be on your way.
