Wow...didn't mean to let time get away and go so long between updates. Things have changed.
Ebby's vet appointment went well. She did so much better then I expected and by the time we got home you'd never know she ever went. She had a vaccine and they said it would make her sleepy but hardly affected her at all.
A few days later I took in a foster cat that was abandoned by one of my neighbours. One of my contacts through animal rescue covered her vetting and it was a good thing. Poor kitty had a skin infection and an ear infection and wasn't feeling so good. She came back from the vet with antibiotic pills and eardrops. We survived the two weeks of that...thanks to Pill Pockets and a food motivated kitty. :) The ear drops were the hardest part but overall she did great...thank goodness. She's just waiting now for a vet recheck (sometime this week) and the all clear on her health and then we'll work harder on finding her a forever home suitable for her. She's not big on other cats and has a few little relatively minor special needs but hopefully it won't deter people from scooping her up. She's a great cat...loves her humans. But as much as I have always wanted to foster a cat...I'm so honestly looking forward to being done.
I feel rotten admitting that. But it was a lot more work then I was expecting...not just physically but mentally and emotionally. In a small bachelor style apartment it just makes it that much more challenging. And the fact it's the holidays and having the foster kitty is throwing a bit of a wrench in my plans. But I wouldn't trade things. I've been asking for this experience my entire life...and it's something I want to continue doing in the future. I've learned a lot and I wouldn't take any of it back. But it's had it's share of trouble and I'll be glad when it's all said and done and she has a good forever home.
I put in my last Avon order tonight and it should arrive here on Friday. Then once things are delivered I'm taking vacation from Avon and possibly giving it up altogether. Not making that final call quite yet though.
Starting to feel stressed about how much is left to do before Christmas and just trying not to think about it...but sooner or later I'm going to have to face it and figure out what needs to be done and do it. Right now I'm just trying to avoid a break down. And avoidance...while not the answer...is the only thing I can do right now and still be able to care for myself and these kitties.
Anyway...just hit me how exhausted I am and I still need to do a few things before I crash for the night.
