Happy August 1 my friends.  Finally a chance to do a real update, and is about time or what?!  LOL.  I think it's been at least a week. Things have been good, but time is flying so fast and I'm losing track of what happened when.  Not to mention the humidity is melting my brain.   Last Friday, the 24th, I went to my parents and ended up being there until Wednesday the 29th.  Saturday we got up super early (before 7am) so that we could be on the road early to go to the Valley.  We were on the road around 8:30am so for my family we did well.  Usually it's after 9am before we're ready.  I didn't mind getting up early because I knew I'd be able to sleep in the car...lol.  Highway driving always puts me to sleep...I'm like a baby that way.  :P   We stopped in and met an older couple that I met online.  They invited myself and my parents to stop in for a tea, coffee, espresso, and/or latte.  Such a sweet couple and beautiful house.  I met them through a site called couchsurfing.  That's where people from around the world can offer up their couch or a spare room for others who are travelling.  You fill out profiles, you can decide who can stay with you or not, no one gets your address unless you give it to them.  It's a really interesting way to meet people from around the world and to make travelling on your vacations cheaper.  It's free to stay at the peoples homes.  You might be responsible for your own meals and/or bedding but it's different for each place.  I found out about it through someone on facebook and signed up just out of curiousity and saw this couples profile and contacted them just to find out more.  Anyway, turns out he's also into geneology and into geocaching.  Both things I'm interested in.  He's actually been doing geneology for over 30 years and so now I'm helping him update some of his information.  There's a distant family connection and he's involved in some of the same organizations my Uncle, who is also into geneology, is in to.  Mom said that visiting this family was the highlight of her day and that's pretty amazing really....considering all the visiting and neat things we did after visiting them. After we left their place we went on to a little place called Port George.  That's were the Jamboree was going on.  Also that's were some of my family lives.  We stopped in at my Aunt and Uncle's.  They own and operate a museum and giftshop out of their home.  It's really a neat spot to go.  So different from how it was when I was a child.  It was my grandmothers house then, and my Aunt and Uncle and their children lived there as well.  There's also a geocache on their property that I had to find.  :)  I bought a cool pair of earrings at the giftshop made of broken vintage glass (made to look like sea glass) and wire.  I've gotten a few compliments on them already.  Love them.   After visiting my Aunt and Uncle we went on to the Jamboree.  My dad went to his typical spot near the canteen and got his food and sat down to watch the performers and watch for anyone he knew.  Mom and I went to the flea market part of it and spent a good amount of time looking around.  I even found a great orange and red vase for $1.  Couldn't leave it behind for that price, I love it.   After that we had to get some amazingly delicious Strawberry Shortcake.  There were some young girls carrying around baby bunnies in a basket that they had gotten from someone there.  I finally couldn't resist and had to ask to pet one.  The girl passed it over and said here, you can hold him.  Awwww.  I just about melted he was so cute and little and cuddly.  Was about 2 months old she thought.   After leaving there we went up the road to a place that has the most gorgeous day lillies.  They were having a yard sale as well but they were packing up.  It was just at a private home but we had been there before a couple years ago and knew what treasures were hidden around the back of the house.  Way better then any yardsale.  These people that own this property are so sweet and love having people wander around their property.  They have so many lillies and flowers.  They have a pond with about 130+ trout in it and food out for us to feed them.  Pathways and garden ornaments and just gorgeous everything.  And right by the Ocean.  I could easily have sat at the pond, on the bench, with a book and spend a whole day.  It is like a piece of heaven there.  Seriously.   After that we went to my cousins house and spend some time there visiting.  I hadn't seen them in a few years and this was a new house (new to them).  I'd never been to this place before.  So it was a good time. Then after that we went on to visit another of my Aunt's and Uncle's homes.  It was so great to see everyone.   And then we started heading towards home but stopped at a restaurant for a late supper and dessert before finishing the trip home...errr...to my parents home.  We got back around 11pm so it was a pretty long day but so worth it. Sunday I did absolutely nothing, I couldn't function.  I got up, had breakfast and then crashed out for the afternoon, got up had supper, stayed up for a few hours and then crashed out for the night.  Monday was laundry.  Can't remember if I did anything else. Tuesday Mom and I went for a drive to Mahone Bay...another gorgeous spot to visit.  They have some beautiful places to see and are right on the water as well.  Great shops and galleries, such a unique atmosphere.  Unfortunately we only had a couple hours before most of the places closed so we didn't get to go to the places we wanted to.  We'll just have to go back again soon. Wednesday I packed up to come home.  I had an appointment for the liquid nitrogen treatment on my toe.  We're doing weekly appointments right now.  Afterwards dropped off my stuff at the apartment and then went out shopping with mom to the Salvation Army thrift store and to supper and then to Michael's (my fav store) and a few other places.   Thursday I had a psychology appointment and was planning to walk but when I got out of the appointment it started pouring so I just got on the bus and came home.  Didn't feel like being in the rain that day.  So came home and have been trying to catch up on emails and facebook and blogs and all that kind of stuff.   Friday I went to go get my glasses fixed because the frame broke.  Of course I got there and they happened to be closed to do inventory.  Grrr.  Thankfully I'm lucky with this pair of glasses that my lenses aren't held in by the frames.  Hard to explain but they are sort of "floating" behind the frame with something that reminds me of fishing line (it's not but not sure how else to explain it).  It's how they're suppose to be.  So now I have to wait until Monday to get them fixed...or actually to order new frames in.  I ended up going into the Bargain Shop since it's right there and I haven't been there in forever.  Oh my...dangerous spot for this girly to go.  But I had so much fun and found some great things that I needed and parts of my parents gifts.  Everything I got was stuff I could use so I didn't feel bad spending the money.  I got a great pair of jean capri's for $12 (so hard for me to find a pair that fit since I'm so short they often tend to look like shrunken pants, lol).  Got a nightgown for $6.  A shirt for my dad for $12.98.  Some pressed powder from CoverGirl for $5.  Some birthday cards and a giftbag...the giftbag was $0.50 and the cards were either 40% or  60% off the price on the back.  I forget.  After that went to the Italian Market and got a big huge cookie for my parents for their birthdays that I can decorate and walked home. After I got home had supper and relaxed a bit and then had to go to Winners to return my umbrella that broke.  I just bought it last week.  Of course since I was there I had to look around and ended up getting a birthday gift for my littlest nephew for his bday in September.  It's a Mr Potato Head but it's Spiderman!  :P  $5!  Did a lot of walked on the way home because I decided to take a "short cut" and ended up getting turned around and going the very long way.  LOL.  Go figure.  Got home eventually though. Today I'm just trying to catch up some more...still way behind.  Have like 100 emails, tons of facebook stuff and blog stuff, not to mention catching up on journals and tidying up my room that is starting to look a little disastorous.  So, that's the run down of what I've been up to the past week.  I expect to get a little further behind before I get caught up.  The computer isn't going to be my first priority most days anymore.  I'm enjoying being more active.  This is probably the most active I've been in the past 4-5 years and while I'm still not as active as I'd like to be I'm enjoying as much as I can. But today I just want to chill.  :)
