Yup, I'm sharing another devotional. If you don't like it too bad. You don't have to read. My regular journal entry will be below the devotional as usual. An Invitation To Friendship READ: John 15:9-17 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends. —John 15:15 I grew up in a home with lots of wall plaques. One had a quotation by poet Claude Mermet that stands out in my mind: “Friends are like melons; let me tell you why: To find a good one, you must one hundred try!”Most of us can identify with that. It’s hard to find good friends.I wonder if God ever feels that way about us? Out of all the people in the Old Testament, only one was ever called His friend. In Isaiah 41:8, God says that He chose Jacob, who was an offspring of “Abraham My friend.” Pretty exclusive club! So you can imagine how shocking it was for the disciples to hear Jesus say, “No longer do I call you servants, . . . but I have called you friends” (John 15:15).Better yet, He is saying that to us as well. So, what does friendship with Jesus look like? It starts with commitment. As He said, “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you” (v.14). Then He added the dynamic of communication. He promised to tell us all that the Father has told Him (v.15). Are you listening? And as His friends we begin to bear fruit (v.16), sharing a commonality with Him by reflecting His glory in our attitudes and actions (2 Cor. 3:18).Jesus welcomes you to the privilege of friendship with Him! Are you His friend? — Joe Stowell What a Friend we have in Jesus,All our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carryEverything to God in prayer! —Scriven Welcome to the privilege of friendship with God. ~~~ What a wonderful thing is to know that I am considered a friend of Jesus...although I know I am guilty and on occassion I don't always do what I'm told. I am very much a child in this relationship, still learning, growing, but I think sometimes as children often do I also test the limits. And often as children we learn that not listening doesn't usually work out so well for us. Thankfully our God is a forgiving God. Jesus has already paid for our sins. Thank you Jesus. Anyhow, as usual my rash looks just about back to normal today. But then I haven't moved or done anything to bring it out. I feel very mildly itchy, and very little pin pricking sensations yesterday and today so that is a huge answer to prayer. I was going batty thinking all my friends were ganging up on me playing with their darn voodoo dolls . Hehe. Well ya'll know now the power of prayer is more powerful then any voodoo doll sensations I was getting. WooHoo!!! I guess I just need to keep doing what I'm doing and keep the prayers going. Tomorrow I see my doctor again. I was up all night last night. It was storming something fierce here last night. Everytime I thought it was over it would start up again right loud. In fact at about 6am I saw the lightning and braced myself for the thunder...and I still jolted. We still had power throughout the whole thing which is good because I also spent a good portion of the night helping out someone online who was in need. But boys oh boys am I lazy today. I slept 5 hours and woke up and just couldn't do anything...not even look at the computer. So I talked to mom and she said go back to bed for an hour or two so that's what I did. Was the only thing I could do. LOL. So not very much excitement today. Just a sleepy lazy kiddo I am. Shall get up and get some food stuff into me soon though.
