I'm sorry I can't help myself.  Yes it's another devotional but this one has spoken the loudest to me, I think more then any so far.  My regular entry will be below.  Oh, this one is from www.notreligion.com.  Do You Know Him?  June 3, 2008  Key Passage: Luke 22:54-65  Topic: Christian Living  Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, "This man also was with him." But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know him." (Luke 22:56-57, ESV)   Peter was a brash man, spirited and often loud. Jesus had already told Peter that he would deny Him. And Peter violently disagreed, telling Jesus that he would follow Him even if it meant his life (Luke 22:33). But in the middle of a very scary situation, this bold, loud and proud Peter denies even knowing who Jesus is.   Now, before you quickly condemn Peter as weak, cowardly and just not a good friend, take a look at your life. It's easy for us to point fingers and see where others fall short. But as Jesus told His disciples, "First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye" (Luke 6:42, ESV).   It's way too easy for us to go to a conference or retreat, listen to a dynamic speaker and great music and be surrounded by a bunch of Christians all fired up for Jesus.  We get excited and make all kinds of promises to God. We tell Him how we're gonna live for Him. We're gonna tell all of our friends about Him. We're gonna give Him full control over our lives.   But something happens when we get home. For awhile we're still excited and nothing seems to live up to what we just came from. Then we sort of come down from our spiritual high and settle back into our ordinary lives, to school, work, hanging with friends, whatever. And our words, our actions, our very lives sometimes seem to say "I don't know Him."   What changed? Did God change? Is He stronger when there are more people around and not as strong when you're alone? No! "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrew 13:8, ESV).    What happens is that we start basing our commitment to God on our feelings, our surroundings and circumstances. Those things change so quickly and so often they can't be trusted.  Trust God for your strength, your courage, your direction--He is constant.  ~~~ Now I don't know about you but I can relate to Peter.  How many times have I said I'm a Christian and then hung out with my non-Christian friends and I might not have out-right denied Him, but in the choices I made I know I've dishonored Him.  Or even when I'm on my own.  I've felt like hurting myself or drinking or the more common issues lately, putting computer time ahead of God time.  So who am I to point out someone elses non-Christian-like choices when I myself am just as guilty.  I need to listen to God in all aspects of life no matter what emotion it is that I'm feeling at the time.  Now, onto my regular entry... Last night I was presented with an interesting opportunity.  It is something that I'm going to have to definitely think about and more importantly pray about.  It's definitely life changing and would affect not only myself but some of my friends.  My friends that I have been hanging out with and helping to watch their daughter have asked me to consider the possibility of moving in with them.  They would let me stay either rent free or at a reduced cost in exchange for me helped to look after not only their daughter but another 1-3 children on a full time basis.  Now, I know that would help them out tremendously, but I do have my concerns.  First I would either end up taking their daughters room (and she'd end up in their room with them), or I'd be in the basement.  It would be my room, but it's also the laundry room, and furnace room, etc.  Second, all 3 of us suffer from mental health issues...and while we do all bring each other up I'm not sure living together would have the same effect...I have a fear it may end up having the opposite effect.  Third, I don't know if I'm in a place physically or mentally that I commit to anything of that magnatude on a full-time basis. After one day of helping I'm usually so worn I can't move the next day.  Yes my energy has improved but I'm not there yet.   On the flip side of things, it might be something that could help all of us, they are Christians and friends and we all have similar goals in mind in regards to strengthening our relationships with Christ.  It would give me a chance to save some money and pay down my debts.  I would be forced to be a lot more social.  I would be helping someone else and also feeling like I'm being productive instead of sitting around doing not much of anything.   Who knows what other pros and cons their might be.  Only God knows it all.  I'm praying, they're praying, my mom's praying, and I'm asking you if you pray to pray that I make this decision based on what God wants and not on what I want and desire.  It would definitely be a huge change.  And I don't know whether to laugh or cry.  I'm kind of overwhelmed at the moment. Anyhow, that's the biggest news.  I've been using today to get caught up on paying bills and making phone calls.  I finally called the income assistance office (welfare) to see whether I was receiving it at the beginning of 2007 and sure enough I was.  So they're sending me a form so I can finally finish up my income tax. Sad to say it looks like I might actually end up having to pay in...and that will suck because I'm way late on it.  I'm going to see if there is anyone in the church that can help me out with it to make sure I've got everything right and there isn't something else I can claim.   Made an appointment with the cheapest and best dental office I can which is actually the dental university.  So my first appt is in August.  That will be to see if I am even a candidate.  I've heard good things about them there, the only downside is because it is a student working on you appointments tend to be a lot longer...but for the reduced cost I can deal with that.  It's important to keep on eye on dental health.  I truly believe that our dental health can have an impact on overall health so we will see if I qualify. Well, that's it from me for today.  I need to get a shower, catch up on emails and journals here (I promise I will get to them as soon as I can), and mom is coming in.
