Hmmm...well that attempt didn't go as planned. I tried making skor bar squares tonight. Timer went off and I turned to go to the oven and all this black smoke pouring out. Quickly turned the oven off, opened the oven door, while my roommate scrambled to turn off the smoke detectors. Jackson, my roommates cat, was scared outta his mind and ran and hid for a few hours. So much for that. It is only the top layer that is burnt so tomorrow I might peel the top layer (normally the best part) off of all the squares. It seems to come off fairly easily...or at least when they were still warm it did. I just didn't have it in me to bother with them tonight. The rest of them taste fine...but I'm still a bit disappointed. I was looking forward to them so much. Ah well. I'll pick up another box of crackers tomorrow if I remember and try again. I know of at least 2 things I will do differently with the next batch. It brought back memories of when I was about 8 and somehow managed to burn Kraft Dinner in the microwave.
