I have an appointment with a new neurologist in Eugene on June 13th. There is so much I need to convey to him that I hope I can get it all out in some semblance of order. They say all of the symptoms and all of my past medical experiences (TN, gallbladder disease, multiple miscarriages, etc.) "paint a picture". It's gonna be a HUGE picture I will have to paint for him! I have always kept track of my symptoms, but it's so hard to try to summarize them so that he will take time to read them. I have also summarized all of my past test results in chronilogical order as well as all of my past diagnoses. So much to try to summarize in one appointment. It's almost like starting over... Any suggestions I may not have considered? This new doc wrote in his bio that he likes the "difficult" cases and doesn't follow the standard algorithims that are normally followed. Let's hope he lives up to that! Every doctor I have seen has stated that I am confounding, complicated, or simply out of their range of expertise. I have, however met two specialists who were not daunted by my case and really went out of their way to help me. Unfortunately one is a rheumatologist and doesn't specialize in MS, although she is the one who figured out that was what I had...bless her! I was originally sent to her because my former PCP thought I had lupus. Had she not ordered the MRI, I might STILL have no answers. The other specialist is up at OHSU, and that turned out to be too far for me to travel. My last trip was agonizing. She said she would be happy to keep seeing me, but she could tell the trip was too hard on me and urged me to find a neuro closer to my home so it would be easier on me. Since my former neuro turned out to be a dud (egotistical and patronizing..even going so far as to say, "MS doesn't hurt, my dear.") Jerk... I have had to seek a neuro in Eugene, which is an hour's trip from here, but well worth it. Wish me luck! My health has gone down alarmingly in the past few months. I run out of breath easily, my legs will occasionally just stop in the middle of walking, my vision is worse and worse, my memory is awful, and depression is nipping at my heels constantly. I am lucky if I feel well enough to work even eight hours a week now. I am still waiting on my disability appeal. I don't know what I will do if I am denied again. Maybe seek the help of an attorney? I'm so exhausted by the amount of paperwork I have had to fill out for SSI, food stamps, energy assistance, and medical assistance, not to mention the paperwork I fill out each time I see a new doctor. I need a personal assistant! Ugh... Take care, my friends. As always, my prayers are with you all. ~J
