Sorry for the long absence, but I had a bad week. Got desperate and called some of my family in another town, and they got in touch with a neuro there who is going to see me next Friday, as opposed to August 15th like the local neuro was. I have been trying to figure out what to do about my job. I am a transcriptionist, and my hands are just giving up on me. They either hurt or they are numb. On rare occasions, like tonight, they are okay. But unfortunately I can't control it, so I may need to let go of my job. What do I tell this new neuro? Will he help me? I'm so lost... I am a single mom, and I am desperate to keep my home and my freedom for as long as I can. Any advice?

i think it is great you got a earlier appt.wait and see what the doc.says.maybe he will give you meds to help your hands better and you wont have to leave your job.i think you should take one thing at a time.i am here for you ....love marie
some neuros are great, just tell then everything your feeling. the numbness and hurting of your hands are part of the ms. i know that because im having it to. my dr put me on a new ms med its one of the leading ms right now for ms lyrica. you might ask about that its kidda pricey my one month after my insurance was $115.00 but my dr says its worth it. its not an overnite cure but does help.
Oh my goodness.Perhaps the neuro can Rx something to help w/the pain.Hopefully he will know what is causing the numbness too.I will pray that your life will be blessed,and you will not lose what you have worked so hard for.
It may help to keep a physical journal. Day by day or hour by hour of your symptoms and rate the debilitating scale from one to ten. My husband did this for his neuro and it was very helpful because he tended to forget things once he was in the doctors office. I know you are very frightened now but there are new meds out there that are very helpful. Take care and keep a hopeful outlook. Denise
I\'m so scared to take anything stronger than ibuprofen for the pain. I have an addictive personality. Smoked for years, had a bout with drugs in my \"hey day\" and once, about 15 or so years ago, I was given a prescription of pain pills for a surgery I had, and I had trouble giving them up. I just don\'t want to have to go down that road again. I have my son to think about. He depends on me. I am his sole provider from Sunday night until Friday night, then his daddy takes him on the weekend and I just fall apart. Are there pain pills that don\'t take away your capacity to think and reason and drive if you have to? I already have intermittent cognative problems. Thanks for your help and support. In Canada, we can get tylenol or asparin with codeine, without a prescription. It\'s a mild amount of codeine, but it helps alot better than plain tylenol or ibuprofen. If you\'re in the States, it\'s probably prescription, but something like that might work for you, without you becoming addicted. My thoughts & prayers are with you, that you will find peace & hope.

Yeah, I understand what you are going through...what to do when you can feel that you soon wont be able to do what you normally do and cant control your body to maintain it. I want to let you know that I dont have any words of wisdom for ya,...it sounds like other friends are quite helpful...thank goodness for others!!!
