Feeling pretty good today. A bit buzzy, but that is pretty much the norm for me these days. The right side of my face went numb last night, recovered before I went to bed, and then went numb again about an hour ago. It's weird. It encompasses the ear, eye socket, half my nose, lips, and chin. No droopiness or speech problems. No hearing or vision loss (although my vision always seems to be blurry these days with the occasional vertical double vision. It will occasionally feel like my eyes are vibrating. Makes me nauseous.). I'm terribly unmotivated today. My son went for a sleepover last night and will be picked up by my ex-husband this evening, so I have the whole day to myself. I do have my transcription to do, but I am having trouble staying on task and focusing. Anyway, at least I don't need to drive anywhere today, and my transcripton isn't due back until tomorrow, which is probably why I am so unmotivated...lol I hope all of my friends on here are doing well today. ~Jlynn

Have you been diagnosed w/trigeminal neuralgia? When it happens,can you smile & show your teeth? If you haven\'t already,maybe you should phone your dr w/the symptoms? Sorry you\'re a bit lonesome today,but your son will be back before you know it.Would a movie help?
Is your local library online? I order books & DVD\'s from mine.They will even order them if they don\'t have them @ their branch.
Then all I have to do is run in & pick them up.Saves looking & standing in line.Hope you have a restful night & a great weekend!!
I do have TN. I was diagnosed with it shortly after my son was born in 2000. The TN has always presented itself as electric shock followed by severe pain. I take Tegretol, which numbs the affected side. This doesn\'t feel like my normal TN symptom, but maybe it is just manifesting in a different way? Since the Tegretol makes my face numb, it probably wouldn\'t help this. Now that the numbness is wearing off again, I am starting to feel some discomfort on that side. I may take a Tegretol and see if that helps. I haven\'t had one for over a week. I rarely have a TN flare up anymore, and one Tegretol has always resolved them right away.
Thanks for your suggestions. I have a few of my favorite shows recorded and waiting for me when I finally finish my work. I may even ask my ex to bring my son by to have dinner with me. He\'s my own little stress reliever. Just looking at him makes everything okay again. ~Jlynn

jlynn, I\'m sorry you\'re having so many difficulties. It must be scary when you never know what\'s going to happen next. I have bipolar, & sometimes, when I\'m manic, I get symptoms of illnesses I don\'t really have. I know, it sounds very strange. But once, I got symptoms of what I thought was multiple sclerosis. I was positive I had it. Everytime I\'d get a new symptom, I\'d look it up in a medical book, & there it would be, confirming my worst fears. Needless to say, I had all the tests, & they came out false, which was very embarassing for me. But, having gone through this, at the time, I could relate to never knowing what new symptom I was going to get. I\'m sorry for you, that yours isn\'t just \"in your head\", like mine was. You\'re really living with a number of illnesses & they are real. I admire the courage with which you face each day. And I\'m so glad you have your son. He sounds like a wonderful little guy. Thanks God for the children, right?

Even though your face gets numb do you get sharp twinges in any part of the side of your face that goes numb? You can tell by letting shower water run directly onto your teeth. Try that out and let me know, you could also have other things going on and the numbness hides it.

No sharp twinges. In fact the ache that started at the top of the head and behind the eye has subsided. Also, the throat numbness has subsided. The only numbness that remains is directly at the cheekbone and back to the ear. I guess as long as there is no more pain I can deal with it until I can discuss it with my new doc. It just seems like all of these bizarre symptoms seem to be coming at me one right after the other at a rapid pace. Once I get a definitive answer, most of the stress should subside (hopefully) and probably many of the symptoms as well. Anxiety is my middle name lately. lol ~Jlynn
