This has been a good weekend. Today Jake watched a movie with me and that almost never happens. That was always Jeff's job. For the last 2 years Jeff's shoes have been empty but more and more lately Jake is stepping in. Is this what all of those assholes are talking about when they say "at least you have two other sons" ? Now I really feel like a bad word for thinking them such bad words. Jeff's sandals are outside my frot door. We don't wear shoes in the house. Jeff never lived in this house and I don't know who put the sandals there. Maybe Jake really is filling his brother's shoes.

I am glad you had a good weekend. That is so nice when that happens. I agree on the \'at least you have two other sons\'. My only son was killed and the week it happened my neighbor said something to the effect of, \'well maybe that is not such a bad thing with the way the world is going\'. I couldn\'t believe it. How would she like one of her 4 children to be taken. People mean well but can be so insensitive. I hope you continue to have a good week.
Our other children really can help us in so many ways. Talk about Jake filling Jeff\'s shoes...Jared is doing many of the same things that Alex would do...including now working for a golf course (Turf Management---golf course maintenance) Part of it is he can\'t find a job in music. The other part is he is trying to find out who HE is without Alex...so he is blending them together...to feel whole...I think. It probably helped Jake to do something that he knew Jeff used to do with you. That is really sweet. Love and hugs...Karen
It takes a while for siblings to find their way in this new life too. That\'s neat to hear Jake is steppin in Jeffs shoes. What a wonderful blessing for a mother. My other three boys haven\'t needed to \"step\" in to their brothers shoes as he was still young at 18 and finding his way but they have been much kinder to each other (you know how siblings can be) and bonding more like brothers and that\'s a gift in our lives. Glad you had a good weekend. Love Robin
As long as Jake doesn\'t feel he has to become Jeff - it is good. Enjoy...
I think that it must be more difficult to lose your only child, only because you have other issues to face being a mother without a child. However, the pain is the same if we had one or ten children. At least this is what I am told. I sometimes feel envy at the posts of those enjoying grandchildren while I have none. I have one son left. But then I put it in perspective. I do have one son. And maybe someday a grandchild. For some, this can never be. I don\'t think we can ever rationalize the loss of our child. It is what it is. I am glad that you had a good weekend! Love, Belinda
Glad you had a good weekend. Don\'t worry about the why\'s just enjoy what you have. Love and hugs Cathy
